I am learning Stats via ALEKS and I like it. My school will give me credit for completing the course through ALEKS; I have read of others using ALEKS to prepare for the DSST (Dantes). I'm using the Idiot's Guide to Statistics and Business Statistics Demystified when I want to read in different words, and I'm watching the learner.org videos.

I did pre-algebra in about a month, then switched to Statistics, because Excelsior wants me to do that before they'll approve me for the Finance DSST exam. Then I go back for Algebra. It's inexpensive, fun, and it works.

PS If you have access to a public library you may never have to buy books.
