Well, in order to access the specific exam feedback on the InstaCert Forums, you need to be an InstaCert subscriber now.

    Bummer...

WOW! That is horrible. That was all user feedback that the user provided free of charge.

Who should I contact on this forum to request an area for specific exam feedback?

Perhaps one of the admins would be willing to start an area for Specific Exam Feedback much like DegreeForum used to do - I know there is a good bit of info on this board, but you got to search a bit for it.

    Thoughts?

I would be all for it, and I would contribute to the threads. (I had just updated a few of the exam feedback threads at InstantCert, but now I can't even access MY information that I provided for FREE!)

    Who should we ask?

The webmaster at InstantCert just confirmed the change. They are now charging for the free information that I contributed to exam feedback threads. The information that I contributed is now LOCKED. I can't even access the information that I contributed. You now have to pay to access threads that users started to talk about which resources to use to study for individual CLEP, DSST, and GRE exams.

Who is in charge on this website? Who should I contact about setting up a specific exam feedback area on this website?

    Thanks.

I'm sure after reviewing your current reactions and the way you are now dissing the other site AFTER you benefitted from all of their information and resources, the mods will be jumping with joy at your offer...thanks for the belly laugh!!!

I can see both sides of the argument - but having a specific exam resource here would be beneficial to many who don't want to subscribe to Instacert.

IMHO, it's not a good business decision for them to cut off the Specifc Feedback Forum. If they want to recoup costs, perhaps selling advertising would be a better idea. In fact, the Specific Feedback Forum was a great way to advertise the success of Instacert.

    Have a Great New Year!

The InstantCert forums were set up for users to discuss specific exams. The USERS provided the information. The USERS contributed to the threads. The USERS discussed which resources they used to study for specific exams. The USERS provided all of this for FREE. Now, InstantCert has closed that area off from the very people that created the content. They are charging for content that the users created.

Your comment makes no sense. I benefitted from USERS providing information that they offered for free.

FOR EXAMPLE, I provided the below information in the CLEP English Literature thread:

    English Literature CLEP Study Materials

    SparkNotes Literature Study Guides
    Literature Study Guides - SparkNotes

    SparkNotes Shakespeare Study Guides
    Shakespeare Study Guides - SparkNotes

    SparkNotes Literary Terms
    Narrative : Sparkcharts

    Free English Literature Flashcards
    literature Flashcards

English Literature (Barron’s EZ-101 Study Keys
Amazon.com: English Literature (Barron's Ez-101 Study Keys): Benjamin W. Griffith: Books

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to English Literature
Amazon.com: The Complete Idiot's Guide to English Literature: Ph.D., Jay Stevenson: Books

    Wikipedia on English Literature
English literature - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Wikipedia List of Literary Genres
Literary genre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Norton History Timeline of English Literature (with quizzes)
The Norton Anthology of English Literature: The Middle Ages: Introduction

    English Literature GRE Study Guide
    English Literature GRE Study Guide

    Literature Terms
DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED IN AP LITERATURE EXAMS
    Mrs. Dowling's Literature Terms
    A Glossary of Literary Terms

    AP English Literature Practice Test
Practice Tests for the AP English Literature and Composition Exam

NOW THEY ARE CHARGING PEOPLE FOR MY INFORMATION! We will simply find another place to freely discuss specific exams. If this forum wants us, we would be happy to call this website home.

InstantCert will not be getting my help with FEMA course and other things in the future now. I am right now in the process of starting a new forum that is on military subjects, but will have an education section with a sub-forum on CLEP, DSST, and GRE exams. Write me off forum if you want to come there and post a few questions and help get it started.

The SPECIFIC EXAM FEEDBACK was set up to aid Instacert members who were studying the flash cards and attempting to pass the exams, by sharing each others experiences. They never should have made that available to everyone....and people like you, are a prime example of why it shouldn't. I was fortunate enough to benefit from Instacert and others on that forum. Even though I received my BS, I still try to give back to others in the same way that others freely gave to me.

If your true motivation is to help others then you'll stop whining and continue to assist others.....if on the other hand its all about you, then carry on with your hissy fit.

You are unintelligent. Yes, I have been helping people, and I will continue to help people. Unfortunately, the forum where I was helping people is locked. I am looking for a new place for a free discussion of specific exams. Someone has already offered a place, and I am sure more will. I will not be discussing the issue with you in the future. You are not worth my time.

That is not true. The forum is quite alive. The area where forum members share information and tips is still alive. The SPECIFIC EXAM FEEDBACK area which you apparently spent the majority of your time gleening information from, is no longer open to just anyone. Which proves my point. The only reason you were over there was to get information from that area on the forum. Otherwise this would be no big deal.

The idea of cutting off the people who are too cheap to pay the $20 bucks, but were more than willing to take anything they can get for free....is a sound business decision. Those are the same people that would tell others to go use the Specific Feedback Section for free.

Yes the specific feedback section is now apparently available to IC members but the other sections are packed with an incredible amount of information from the general to the specific. Just use the "search" feature and you should still be able to find what you're looking for.

Stupid business decision. I often went to the forum and sometimes posted or wrote emails to posters to help, but will not now. When I was preparing to take a test, I signed up and paid for Instantcert. I'm not going to sign up and pay just to help others when I am not preparing for a test, especially when I can post elsewhere and help people for free. Don't think I will be using Instancert if I ever take another exam again. Boy, that decision is really paying off in lost customers.

You can access and use the forum for free. You don't have to pay anything. You can exchange information freely, same as always. Any rumors to the contrary are a result of ignorance or the type of hysteria usually reserved for 9 year old girls at a slumber party.

BTW Michael, even though I never used any FEMA credits, your contributions have certainly helped a lot of people. Thanks!

    ????

I have over 1000 posts on that forum, but don't take CLEPs anymore. Why would I pay to contribute to the forum? I think it's a real let down and stingy. That used to be the best testing resource on the internet hands down.
(I have this old SNL skit running in my mind...the old lady is standing on her front porch and the kids playing kick their ball onto her porch....she grabs it shouting "I keep it! I keep it! It's mine now!")

Exactly! The users that have taken exams are giving back to the community by freely discussing what was on the exams and how they prepared for them. InstantCert is now charging people for cookderosa's study tips! The tips that she provided free of charge to help someone else!

    Jen,

Your post is so on the mark! The only "old timers" on that forum will be the mods - there is no reason why a successful person like you with credit by examination would want to pay to post. T

You're right, they were the best testing resource. I keep trying to look at this as a sound business decision, and I can't. Most of the people who contributed to that forum used IC. Why would you want to hide those success stories?

Again, IC can do as they please...and in fact, I'll continue to subscribe from time to time for my kids for the flash cards. But I just don't see the logic of closing that thread to the distance learning public...
