I recently took College Algebra through StraighterLine. I highly recommend them. Use FHSU as the partner college, and Excelsior will accept it for sure.

I just enrolled in the straighterline macro class. I should be finished with my Charter Oak Comp 1 about the same time the Macro book arrives. Hopefully, I can finish the class quickly to take advantage of the one month fee.

I called them today a very nice lady answered the phone and answered all my questions.

She basically told me that courses run on Blackboard and that they have live online assistance from instructors.
She told me the partner college WILL award a letter grade and NOT a Pass/Fail.

Plus she told me they are running a promotion for December:

2 Classes for $399 and they give 8 months to complete them. That takes it to only $66.5 dollars x credit!! the best deal I have seen in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time

They are soon adding Advanced English Comp and Financial Accounting II

I hope that helps some of you guys.. best wishes!

So far, I've been impressed with the macro class. It consists of reading, visiting websites, and using flashcards, crossword puzzles, word jumbles and practice tests before the actual test. It's hard not to understand the concepts with that much reinforcement.
If this goes as well I hope, I'll be taking accounting in a few weeks.

That is a good deal. However, San Juan College in NM offers a number of online courses for $30/credit (NM students) and $40/credit for students residing out-of-state.

No. The SJC courses run on a semester timeline. There are 8 and 16 week courses available.

Do you know if SJC exams are unproctored and untimed?

In searching the site, it appears that some SJC online courses require a proctor. I don't know if this is across the board, or just for certain courses. I would call or e-mail the school to find out for sure.

SO i received a call back from Straighterline...

For the Economics II class the partner colleges that accept it require you to enroll and take classes..

She gave me the example of Ellis University, they will accept their Economics II class for credit as long as you take 12 credits with them.. blah I think Im going Penn Foster for it.. any other suggestion?

I wonder why COSC doesnt take their Economics II but takes their Economics I...

Yes, you need to read what each partner college will accept:
    http://www.straighterline.com/about/partners/

The partner colleges determine which classes they will accept. Grand Canyon takes all credits, but it is $100 to apply. Here is information I have gathered:

    Tour Our Partner Colleges

How much does it cost to take one class at Penn Foster?

Grand Canyon would be $100 admission and $99 for the StraighterLine course. Plus, the exams are not timed and not proctored.

$99 a MONTH (of 28 days) do you really think you can finish an accounting class in 28 days?

Thats why I prefer taking 2 classes for $399 that would be around $200 x class and I would have 8 months to complete them.

    Blessings

I am sure you can. I had a week left of my month after taking College Algebra, so I signed up for Accounting I (they only do one course per month now). I could have done the course in 3 or 4 weeks, but I didn't have the time to do it in 1 week. It will require a bunch of reading, quizzes, and exams, but it can be done. All of the quizzes and exams are not timed and not proctored.
