Does anyone here have experience with the english comp CLEP(S), particularly as they relate to credit trasnfer at TESC?

    1) I already have an english comp 1 (ENG101) class banked at TESC, but need a second comp to complete my degree. I'm considering just taking the CLEP instead of another comp class and am of the understanding that the General Comp CLEP is worth 6 hours, as is the Freshman Comp WITH Essay. Can anyone here confirm that TESC does indeed accept both of these CLEP exams to satisfy the 6 hours of required english composition?

    2) Can anyone assess the level of difficultyfor either of these exams?

    3) After taking the CLEP exams with essay, does anyone know how long it takes to receive a grade?

    Thanks!

I took the CLEP General Comp, the CLEP Freshman Comp, the CLEP Analyzing Lit, and the ECE Comp w/essay. (serious overlap but they were for different schools)

The three CLEP were pretty easy, the ECE with essay was a bit of a challenge but not all that difficult.

I can't speak to the rules at TESC but if the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature will meet the requirement, that's probably your best bet - it's not challenging at all.

It took nearly 6 weeks for me to get a grade on the ECE Comp w/essay.

My wife took the English Composition CLEP recently and passed it. Not by much, though, as she was a little nervous and as a result had poor time management, leading to her not entirely finishing either the questions section or the essay.

Wow. A passing score for an incomplete exam seems pretty darn good to me!

She was pleasantly surprised. We figure that everything she did answer she answered correctly.
