With RA college classes, CLEP subject + General exams and DSST tests, I have about 90 credits earned towards a 120 credit BA/BS degree. (Still need those math credits!) Does the GRE subject exam meet the requirements for its respective degree program (not including the GED requirement)? For example, If I have all of my GED ed requirements met, have 27 credits that are standard business credits, totaling 90 credits, would completion of a GRE meet the requirements for a BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in [Literature in English, Psychology, etc.]? All of my RA classes were liberal arts classes. Most of my CLEP/DSST were business or social science related tests.
The link below takes you to Excelsior's page about credit for GRE exams. Depending on the exam, you can get 3-30 credits. http://www.excelsior.edu/exold/094.htm Good luck. Tony
The answer is yes, maybe. Score high enough, over 80th percentile, and you can use the GRE score as your Concentration in the Liberal Arts programs. I scored a 580 on the History Subject Exam (sadly, no longer offered), and earned 30 hours. I am preparing to sit the Literature in English exam in December to pick up the 3 additional upper-division credits I need and to, hopefully, earn a second concentration in that subject. Good Luck, lineburgp! Regards, Tony
Generally, the answer to this question is yes. I completed my BA at Excelsior, when it was still Regents-1998, by taking the Revised Political Science and History GRE's. I also took the Psych GRE, but already had too many Psych credits from other tests and too low a score to qualify on that test. If you score high enough, as I did on History and Poli Sci, then you can get up to 30 semester hours, 18 of which count as upper division. ------------------ Stu
