I took similar TECEP exams for this topic. As they suggest the same textbooks, let me pass along my experience. Use the NEWEST books you can. I used older versions of the suggested material, but that was an error as the examinations covered many topics that were written, or studies completed AFTER the date the textbook was printed. So keep that in mind ! Billy
No, I have not taken the test but a fellow studet has, I also inquired about the test format. The student told me that it contained a lot of chemical info, like what paticular drug is composed of a certain cemical composition. Good luck, Buckwheat
I am not sure about DANTES but for preparation for state licensure and/or certification D&S Associates, POB 178, Middlefield, CT 06455, 1-800-5559, has wonderful materials on preparation for substance abuse exams and a wonderful study guide on psychopharmacology.
I recently took the exam and managed a passing score by using a couple of books from the local library. They were older books from the early 80s and I should have used something more recent to study from. One area that gave me trouble was the questions pertaining to the names of drugs that are used to help people fight addictions and the reasons why those drugs work.
