has anyone taken the public speaking dantes exam? if so what is it like? any tips or pointer? thanks!
I took it YEARS ago (1995 to be exact) and passed, but I'll give it a shot. From what I remember, I took a written exam (“fill in the dots” multiple choice) on principles of public speaking and then was led into a room and given a random subject for a recorded impromptu speech. The speech was then mailed off to a professor who graded it according to whatever standards he/she would grade a similar class. The latest Dantes subject public speaking guide seems to bear this out. My feeling was always that I got lucky, but give it a shot - you're military, so it's free. If you don't pass, you can either take the equivalent speech class from a local college, or retest in six months. Good luck, man. Dave
