Just wanted to throw out some encouragement to anybody out there doing the CLEP thing. I took the Introduction to Business Law test today. I read two chapters out of a book (Essentials, Business Law I) and did about half the questions on instantcert.com for the subject. Scored out at a 62, which would probably barely be good enough for an A at Excelsior if they awarded a letter grade for this exam (they don't -- pass/fail only).

Next up is Principles of Marketing, probably on Monday, followed by Macroeconomics later next week.

Finally on my merry way to the business degree....

    Congratulations!

I skipped Business Law when I was doing my testing because I stuck only with those I was confident I could pass without study and that one definitely wasn't on the list. Glad it worked for you, though. Are you going to try the DANTES Business Law II exam as well?

    CLEPing...

unixman: Thanks for the link, great info you have posted! Since marketing is next, that will help.

Steve: Thanks! As for the Biz Law II DANTES, probably not. Technically, Excelsior would require it for my current concentration (CPA Track), but since I don't think I really want to be an accountant, I will probably switch tracks to Finance or MIS, which don't require it.

However, the masochistic part of me would like to do the CPA track just for the challenge of testing out of a CPA-qualifying degree, then actually sitting for the CPA exam in November just to see how I'd do. :)

    Congratulations.
I have just started preparing for this one myself using Barron's book.
It's encouraging to know that it isn't that difficult.
The material itself, though, I find highly interesting. It's probably the type of subjects I'd suggest that everyone do because of it's practical value for daily life.

    Jassen,

Good job on passing the CLEP Business Law Exam. I took the exam back in 2001, and it was a killer. I squeaked by with a 52...I think. I also took the principles of marketing and the economics (both macro and micro) cleps too. Unlike business law, these were fairly easy if you are prepared. I don't know what you are doing to prepare for these exams, but I found that the Harcourt College Outline Series was very beneficial. Each chapter is prepared in outline form, and there are both multiple choice and essay questions at the end of each chapter. If you studied only one chapter a day, it would take you about a month to go through the entire book. Anyway, here's a link to find some of the books.....http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/102-6712428-2630539. Keep in mind that most of the books in this series were published in the 1980's. So, if you are ever going to take the management information system CLEP, do not use the MIS book from this series because it has to be way out of date.

On an unrelated note, it is nice to see somebody else pursuing a CPA on this board. Currently, I am enrolled in the Accounting Diploma program at UCLA extension. The classes are very challenging, but they are manageable.

Well, good luck with your future CLEPS and your pursuit of a Bachelor's.
