What is the process for taking a DANTES or DTTS exam? I know that in my area: Patrick Air Force Base (Cocoa Beach, FL) is a DANTES testing center. However, I do not know how to sign up for a test.

I am currently enrolled at Thomas Edison State College, a veteran with an honorable discharge (with DD214), and would like to “test out” Principles of Statistics.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

The page you referenced just shows their credt-granting policy, if they are a DSST testing center, they should be able to administer any test, regardless of whether or not they grant credit for it.

Best of luck on the exam. I used the Princeton Review's "Cracking the AP Statistics Exam" book to prep. Other people have had good luck with the "Standard Deviants" set of videos, which can usually be found on eBay.

    Thank you Fortunato...

I bought STATISTICS FOR THE UTTERLY CONFUSED BY LLOYD R. JAISING and the "Standard Deviants" 3 Video Set. Wish me luck.

(P.S. I understand I can bring a non-programmable calculator...any suggestions on brand or model of calculator?)

    Re: Thank you Fortunato...

Not really, just whatever you're comfortable with, as long as it's not programmable. I used an old Texas Instruments solar calculator I'd had since high school. Now, a TI-85 or something similar is right out, of course.

First and foremost, bring one that you are comfortable with. There's nothing worse than trying to learn a calculator's functions during the exam!

Take a look at the TI BAIIPlus - it's about $30 and does statistics and finance (should you ever take the DANTES Finance exam - this calculator is allowed). I purchased it and am happy with it.

Here are the guidebooks for this one if you're interested:

    Thank you guitarmark2000 and Fortunato!

Hate to sound like I am cutting corners or lazy, but which of the following two is the easiest exam:

    PRINCIPLES OF STATISTICS

This is a two-hour examination in which you must answer 100 multiple-choice questions (worth 1 point each).
A passing score is 55 out of 100 points.
