I have contacted MST college in London, where I took some Cleps almost 2 years ago. They are listed in the DANTES web site as a test center for Dantes but now the administrator has changed and he states that they only give CLEPS.
So the choice would have to be Paris I guess. Has anyone taken any DANTES tests at the test center there "American University of Paris"?

I have taken several tests at Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. They usually have testing days one Sat. per month.

    Thanks BN for the info.
First I'd like to see if the "American University" in Paris does DANTES (according to the DANTES page they do) because the travelling time and costs are better than to Geneva from Madrid.
Now the problem is how to manage to get some information from that school in Paris...

Yes, get me a job over there...... I´m myself from Madrid, but working in the Netherlands, and getting sick by the minute of cloudy, cold, gray days. I have been about 15 years out of Spain (mostly in the US) so basically I don´t even know where I am from.

well anyway, sorry for the Spanish...we should do it with private messages I guess since this is an english forum...

    Back to DANTES:
I am waiting a reply to see if DANTES is administered also through Thomson-Prometric, and in that case whether the "Universidad Europea de Madrid" , which does have that system would be able to arrange. Also if they could do the Excelsior Statistics using that system alternatively.

Will be back with any news on this.

How much did you pay for your DANTES exams? The last time I've inquired, the fees they quoted seemed pretty exorbitant to me.

Falkenberg: Tammy Rosso administers the tests ([email protected])

Dennis: 210 Swiss Francs or about 175 dollars. Yeah, I know it's pretty high ... but it's still cheaper and faster than taking courses. If it wasn't for Webster I would be 27 (hopefully 33, took 2 DSSTs on Sat. :) ) credits farther away from finishing my degree. Plus, Switzerland tends to be at least a third more expensive in everything... even McDonalds. :) After living here for 4 years I can say you either get used to paying alot for everything ... or you go crazy...

OH no! Virginia just replied to my email saying the the American University of Paris no longer administers the DANTES tests!
    What's happening?

I think Excelsior should grant us people with so many difficulties in being tested some special credits for "persistence skills" or whatever other subject matter...

So let me look at the Geneva contact...

EXCELSIOR: No Statistics test to unenrolled foreign students

Well, I contacted Excelsior about taking their STATISTICS examination here in Madrid , but they replied they could only arrange their tests to students outside of America if they are currently enrolled in Excelsior, which I'm not as I cannot carry the costs taking into account how expensive the actual tests are for us here in Europe having to travel etc.

So, just in case and for the future: BN, if you live in Geneva, will you be able to advise about testing location there, as well as some tips on one night accomodation in Geneva?

There's also Casablanca in morocco for Clep/Dantes, or at least there used to be but travelling there is also quite expensive and of course a bit more scary...

Actually I live in Bern. But I may be able to help you with some info.

This hotel seems to be the most reasonably priced in Geneva and is very close to the airport www.accorhotels.com. There is also the possibility of finding a hotel in France. Check for hotels around Ferney-Voltaire. If you want something cheaper then you'll probably need to look for a hostel.

From the main train station you'll have about a 10 min train ride to the testing site.

Talk to Tammy about planning your tests. Maybe she'll let you test on two days or take more tests, or maybe they have some sort of deal with a local hotel or something.... who knows. Tammy is always quite helpful.

    Good Luck!

Bn, Ok thanks for the info. At this satge the first thing is to contact Tammy which I have just done by email to learn exactly the costs of the Dantes and the Cleps exams as well as the test dates, etc.

Once I get this info I will dig deeper into the other costly issues such as accomodation, etc.

Meantime I am downloading some maps of Geneva so as to locate the university, as well as investigating flight costs with Iberia and Easyjet which seem the cheapest for flights from Madrid.

If things work out I'll probably have to go to Geneva sometime in March or May.

PS: Does anyone have any experience testing at Amideast in Casablanca Morocco?

    Luis,

I am going to take DANTES tests on Feb. 16th and March 16th at MST College in London - probably the last DANTES exams for outside students to be administered there. On the latter date I'll have to pay additional invigilator fees. If you would like to join me, contact Edith Binstock so that we can share the fees.

Yes, I am interested in taking DANTES STATISTICS 16th March. I sent you a private message about this.
Meantime I have heard that MST also wants to discontinue doing CLEP exams!!! So things are just getting worse and worse for us in Europe.
To think that in the old days I took some paper and pencil Cleps right here in Madrid! It was so cheap to do so.
