I'm thinking of taking these 2 exams, I need free electives, and took the sample exams for BOTH and only got one wrong on one of them...(no study either) I hope the real exam is not too much harder....

Only thing are these 2 exams duplicate credit for TESC??? Are they the same thing???

I got some SPARK notes on Criminal Justice and Criminal/Civil Law. Would this prepare me???

    THANKS

I took these two on the same day and passed both without any study. They did not duplicate for COSC.

  3. The SparkNotes should suffice (although I haven't looked at them) if you're scoring well on the sample exams.

At Excelsior, BTW, they are not duplicate credit.

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi Randell:

Actually, I am wondering the same thing. I really want to start taking some of these exams. I am 99% sure I am going to enroll at COSC, can I take these DANTES exams then have them transferred over to COSC after I am accepted?

    Please advise,

    thanks, Abner :)

    Abner,

Yes …. The trick is to take most (if not all) of your exams first ….. Then send in your credits for evaluation …. This way you don’t have any extra year tuition deadlines ….. Just make sure your taking the appropriate exams ….. That’s my plan! Good Luck !

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. I had not thought of it that way, thanks once again for the tip!!!!!!!

P.S. How do you know which exams are appropriate and which are not(is there a list), can I e-mail COSC to find out, or is it on their website? I plan on finishing up a B.A. in Liberal/General studies.

I figured I could take the easiest exams first as electives first.

    Thanks once again,

    Abner :)

I'm not aware of any school that considers those two tests to be duplicate credit.

I finally got my scores: Law Enforcement 48..........Criminal Justice 57 not sure how they would convert to letter grades... But anyway, I passed both with only light revision of the laminated spark charts the day before (criminal law and criminal procedure). Just go by your gut feelings on the questions.

They are those laminated cards you see on a rack near the college/study aids section of Barnes and Nobles, Borders Books....... They are usually about $4.95 give or take a dollar. Borders has them under a different brand name I think but I'm sure you will find something relevant. You can also order them on the net (do a web-search on spark charts or bar charts.....there are other brands too.

I have a question though for anyone who might know:
As for my scores, I'm curious to know if what I got woulld be A-B-C... I'm guessing the 57 in Criminal Justice would be a high B or low A and the 48 in Law Enforcement would be a high C...not sure. No biggie though, just curious. I did a few web searches for DANTES, letter grades, cut scores and found nothing. As for excelsior's website I cant find it either, I guess you have to be a student to see that chart.

At Excelsior, the scores needed are as follows:

    Criminal Justice- A=56....B=52....C=49

    Law Enforcement- A=55....B=49....C=45

    Hope this helps
