    What's up crew?

As promised, I am sharing the outcome of my DSST Ethics in America test.

This test was around 100+ questions long and took me almost 2 hours to test. I took it on Oct 9th and got the results on Oct 23rd.

The minimum is a 46 to pass and 52 for an A. I came out with a 69.

I felt better prepared for this test because of the extra effort I put forth.

I again, used the Chauncey DSST Study Guide and instantcert.com. Instantcert.com did help to clear up things more for me on this test, than on the Org Beh test. I also used a list of ethics terms and read over a couple online overviews about certain philosophers and their views. This helped a lot!

About a third of the test covered basic questions like which philosopher had which view... or wrote which publication. This stuff was fairly straightforward based on the materials I used.

The rest of the test was a bit trickier- it required the tester to analyze a certain ethical dilemma based on the views expressed by, for example, an utilitarian. The questions were yes or no and were answered on how ethical or unethical the results or means were, or whether they were even pertinent to this way of thought.

Just need one more 5 credit class, a Calc 1 w/ Analytic Geometry, and I am finished. Any ideas about which schools offer this for a reasonable price and is online? I've found LSU is very reasonable, but it is an independent study course.

    Hope this helped!

Does the DSST Ethics in America have an essay part?

  3. Not that I saw - just multiple choice and yes/no questions.

There is an essay part to the test. However, unless the college you are applying this DSST requires it, you don't have to do the essay portion.
I was taking this test and applying it to my Excelsior B.S. degree, and they did not require the essay to gain full credit for the test.

    Congratulations!

  6. When I took the exam in December I used the new Dantes score sheet.

For some reason neither the score sheet nor the exam booklet had any reference to the essay section - is it separate?

    Cheers,
    Mark

Sorry for the tardy reply...in process of moving.
Anyway... Mark I know there was an essay because I had to clarify w/ Excelsior if it was necessary and I remember the proctor trying to give me instructions, but I cut her short due to it being unnecessary. But if you took it after me, then I believe your info will be more up-to-date and correct than my $.02.

    Thanks for the congrats!!

IMO I don't think it is enough. I needed the study guide and the lists of terms to do as well as I did; again, this is dependent upon what type of background you've had in the area already. I have had no dealings with this subject, except through casual conversations and a psychology class that touched on a couple of these concepts.

Overall, this test is nothing to fear.

    Anything else, hit me back!
