Hello, Has anybody taken the Dantes exam in Finance? Judging by the outline, it seems to overlap pretty much with Accounting(I've already taken the CLEP in accounting so it should be not to difficult for me, I guess); Do you have the same impression? Thanks for your feedback, Dennis
Hi Dennis, I took, and passed, the DSST Finance exam. This was by far my toughest DSST,CLEP. I wasted a lot of time with www.instacert.com (great for other exams) which was worthless for this exam. I also used the Barron's EZ guide to finance which was the only reason I passed. I also didn't bring a calculator which was a big mistake. After I took this exam, I found a site that had a lot of great tips on this exam: www.degreeforum.com Good luck.
Yeah, InstantCert is a little weak here. I did use it though in conjuction with Standard Deviants Finance 1,2&3 videos. You can usually pickup a used set on eBay. I did pass it with a 55. You need a 46 or better to pass.
Ultimate do I need to remember all those formula? I will be taking Dantes Principles of Finance on December 04, 2004 and the only book I am using to study is Barron's EZ101 Study Keys to Finance.
the major formulas yes, in addition, make sure you are VERY clear on future value of money. I didn't bring a calculator and it killed me. Thank god I passed, but it wasn't easy. As to your questions, yes, Learn the major formulas, and future value of money. I would also recommend that you track down the standard deviation videos for this subject. Head over to www.degreeforum.com and look at the various suggestions over there. There are a few free resources that will help a lot too. Good luck.
