Has anyone taken this drug/alcohol abuse dantes exam recently? Is it really that hard?
I need to take another social science dantes exam for TESC.
    Either this or Human/Cultural Geography.
I don't know anything about these 2 subjects!
    THANKS

    traci04,

I didn't take Drugs/Alcohol Abuse exam. However my Master Sergeant took it. He said it is a hard exam, but he did alright. He told me that he was sure for 25 answers, another 25 by elimated down to two answers. And he guessed the rest of the exam. It turned out he got 57; which I believe it is an "A" at Excelsior College. The source he used was www.IntantCert.com

    Good Luck...

I did a search before posting my question and checked out that alexis site..I wanted to get a feel of how hard the test really is.

Thanks Teckman for the info :)

  6. One note to those of you who haven't yet registered - to view these tips you'll need to register. Nothing ominous, just wanting to track the number of different people using the board.

FWIW, I found Instantcert.com somewhat useful as well as the recommended texts (purchased for about $3 each on half.com). I got a 62 on this exam.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Well BAin4weeks listed this as one of the easiest tests. I took the virtually no study route (I think I read those notes linked at the top here twice...about 30 minutes total). Out of 20 or some odd tests, this is one of the only ones I failed. It's shouldn't be too hard to pass, but don't take it lightly either...I don't think the average person is too familiar with the topics covered in this test. Which I could give study hints, but it's been too long.

I've taken both exams and Tekman's info (below) sounds right to me. I found Geography really easy, but that may because of my background in related fields (eg, history).

Elsewhere I've posted on what I used for Drugs and Alcohol - use "search" function. I found it somewhat challenging.

If you know nothing about geography, you may want a textbook like I used (notes also posted elsewhere). It was an easy, fast textbook - don't dither because the exam is not hard.

I guess it depends upon what you were doing in the Sixties and Seventies. Many sit and pass this exam with only life's experience to guide them. The feedback I've had has been that the assessment detailed in BA in 4 Weeks is accurate.

It is true that some will write to say they thought it a difficult test, but then list their score as an "A". How difficult could it have been? One graduate correspondent complained that this and just about every other exam featured in BA in 4 Weeks had proved far more difficult to pass than the Exam Difficulty Index had indicated, yet the performance detail he included documented an 80% pass rate at letter grade A, with hardly a "C" populating the remainder.

One contributor this forum testified that contrary to its difficulty rating in BA in 4 Weeks, the ECE Business Policy and Strategy exam is in fact the easiest or one of the easiest of exams in the Business degree. Yet analysis of his performance across all exams in the Business core and all exams comprising his entire degree, indicated it to be anything but. Relative to his other scores, his performance in Business & Policy had been mediocre to poor.

It is true that if you fail an exam, then for you it did prove to be difficult. However, you can gain some sense of how you will fair by taking the and scoring the practice exams. In all cases I would recommended using the practice exams published by the exam provider to assess your readiness to take the actual test, augmented, in the case of the general CLEP and certain GRE subject exams, by offerings from Princeton Review.

With respect to the DANTES exams, though meager in number, I found the questions supplied in the free DSST factsheets to be adequate to the task. The Official DSST Test Preparation Guide should also prove useful. You can find both here:
