    Hello Everyone,

I am currently enroll at Troy State University, and I want to take Natural Science CLEP to fill up science portion. According to them that they give 8 credits. I have been studying for over a week by using the Commex System textbook, and use the Peterson's practice exam online; which is FREE for military member. I was scored 32/120 = 27%......That is way low. I read some message that Petersons' review is way harder than the actual exam. I am trying to use Free University, but most of the links are broken. I looked at BAin4Weeks.com, and I see Princeton Review is the suggestion.... So, I bought it last night to study tody. I have the schedule for this exam on Thursday May 13.

Is there any tips for this exam? I looked at degreeforum.com, and there is no tips for Natural Science exam.

    Natural Science CLEP

Hi! I took this exam at the beginning of twelfth grade and passed with a 62 in the 89th percentile. Yah know, of course I had three years of high school science behind me, but since it is a general test, I used my eighth- and ninth- grade textbooks for all of my review. But I home-schooled and used textbooks published by a Christian private school in Florida, ABeka Books, so the level was a little higher than public school textbooks. If you could get your hands on the ninth-grade one, I would highly recommend it to fly through.

The test wasn't all that hard. There were a few really, really controversial questions on it like how old is the sun and the fossils of this extinct animal are found in which portion of the geologic column? Now you can talk to ten different professors then read ten different textbooks and get twenty different answers for both of these. The fact is that no-one knows how old the sun is because we weren't around when it was formed, and that there is no such thing as the geologic column anywhere in the world except in textbooks. So the test comes from an extremely evolutional perspective, but there wasn't too much of these up-in-the-air type questions. BTW, I did write to the CLEP people and complain about this, however I didn't hear back and I'm not going to make too much noise because I passed.

My point- a ninth-grade level is all that was required to answer most of the questions, so don't stress over it too much.

    Hi

Take the practice test from the College Board's CLEP book. The test may also be available from the College Board web site for a fee. If your raw score is 50% or higher you are ready. If not, study the chemistry, biology, physic topics listed on the College Board web site. Good luck.

Somewhere in the previous posts it was mentioned the test was heavy on biology. Good luck.

    Re: GOOD LUCK.

I'd like to know as much about it as you can relay as well. I'm taking the American Government CLEP on Wednesday the 19th; that and one of the science tests are all I need to qualify for an Associate's from Charter Oak. (Since I expect to finish the Bachelor's by the end of the summer I may not bother with it, but that's another matter.)

CLEP only seems to offer exams in Biology, Chemistry, and Natural Sciences. I'd prefer Natural Sciences except that InstantCert supports Biology and I've heard good things about them. Thus, I'm undecided which to try, and hearing people's experiences with the Natural Sciences exam may help me. :)

    Hello Everybody, especially to GUNSMOKE.!

Just got back from the exam. The scored wasn't high enough for credits. I would say about 50% Biology, 25% Chemistry, and 25% others. I got 47, just only 3 points away from 8 credits from Troy State U. Well, I didn't receive credits; but at least I refreshed general science in my mind. And I only lost $15.00 for the exam fee..........it is not a big deal......

How do I sign up for the practice exams? I went to Petersons.com, and I can't find where it's free for the military.

    Roscooley,

    Go to http://www.petersons.com/navy

Sign up an account......and you need an activation code. It should be available at your base education office. As others said Peterson's study material is way way harder than the actual exam.

Hmm. How much harder? The site you mention offers percent right as opposed to the 20-80 score on the real test. What percent right should be enough to have a decent chance at passing the real thing?
