Well, unfortunately I just got back a failing score from the Dantes Drug and Alchohol Abuse (From what I had read, thought I could pass with without study. Turned out to be harder than I thought). The good thing though, is that it was only a free elective, so I can replace it next week with a some CLEP I've yet to take. Does anyone have any good reccomendations for little to no study CLEP tests? So far, I've taken all the business, 2 economics, and college algebra.

Did you take College Math, Anal. & Interpreting Lit., Info. Sys. & Comp. Applications? Those should be pretty easy for you.

  3. Randy,

Sorry to hear about your results. I'm taking this on Monday - any tips to share?

    Cheers,

Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. No study really, worth 6 credits. I passed with a 66 and I hate poetry.

Have taken Info Sys. but not the other two. Was thinking college math as a choice since I assume it's easier than the college algebra I already passed. Might want to try Human Growth and Development...sounds easy, but I don't know much about it hehe. I suppose I should look at my practice tests and see what looks easy. =)

Mark, wow, wish I could offer some advice, but I'm not too sure I remember much. I took without any study, didn't really know a lot of the questions, and spent most of the test filling in strange guesses. I didn't pay much attention to the test after I realized I wasn't prepared. If I had to advise though, I'd say know what group all drugs belong to (barbituates, methanphedimes, ect), how the act in your body, and maybe any side effects they may cause. The thing I remember the most, was lots and lots of large unfamiliar words, so knowing a lot of drug vocabulary could probably be of real help. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to pass, my fault was just taking it too lightly (after 18 tests you begin to get lazy about the whole process :p)

Here's to your Health was probably the easiest. What is easy to one person may be a killer to another. I went to the website that lists the passing rate for military and started with the exams that had the highest passing rate. I was abe to pass almost 20 exams in 2 months without really any studying. Good luck.

  7. Definitely it seems - when I took Here's To Your Health I found it easy, but the lady in charge of the adult education program where I'm taking DANTES exams said that a lot of people had trouble with it.

As the saying goes, "your mileage may vary".

  8. I took it this afternoon and walked out feeling about the same as when I took Here's To Your Health. Unlike H2YH, however, I'd recommend to someone taking Drugs and Alcohol Abuse that unless pharmacology is a side hobby that you get at least one of the recommended texts to study...

    Cheers,

I used the Cracking the CLEP college Algebra. It didn't cover everything, but got most of it. The test is a mix of algebra I and algebra II from high school really (and maybe a real small bit of trig). I found a good portion of the questions were actually easier than the test questions listed on the practice test in the CLEP study guide. If you're good with math, shouldn't be much of a problem. I had a slipping headache that day and didn't bother to try to solve any harder questions, and still managed to pass fairly easily. Of course, like we've learned, each person finds different tests easy and difficult. =)

I am not too good with Maths. Infact I dont even remember how I am with Maths :D . Its been years since I last looked at it. So I will need any hints/guidelines and a lot of material to prepare. Do you think that I attempt CLEP College Maths (General) first, before attempting this one ?

    Sounds like a good idea...

A good idea to review fundamentals, gain experience in CLEP testing, and build confidence. You might follow my suggestions here

BUT, when you are ready or eager, buy a copy of Peter Selby's Quick Algebra Review: A Self-Teaching Guide (or something short and similar). On the one hand, you could be surprised! On the other, you'll be no worse off; it's even likely to help you on your way somewhere in the middle.

After you've recovered some needed fundamentals in fractions and equations - then you can commit yourself wholeheartedly to the General Math or Algebra CLEP.
