Hi, does the Clep Sociology exam conflict with the Clep Soc Sci-Hist or American Govt? Does anyone know if it steps on the toes of any other exam?

    Thanks,

    Mike

No it does not - you're safe to take both and receive 9 credits. The SS&H general CLEP does not test enough on any subject to make it a conflict. I am aware on no college that treats any general CELP as a conflict with any CLEP subject exam.

    For example:
I took the SS&H general CLEP, US History 1, US History 2, Intro. Psych., and Intro. Soc.

I received 18 credits: 6 as "cr" and 12 as a letter grade of "A."

This will depend on the school you are attending. Most of the schools I have looked at did not consider the Sociology CLEP in conflict with any other test. Ask your school.
I would guess COSC might disallow credit for the Sociology CLEP if it is taken before the Social Sciences General Exam.
I doubt any school would consider Sociology to conflict with Am Gov.

    Best of luck,
    Tony

I can't say for certain, since I took the general exam first. But if you are right then COSC would have to disallow both United States History CLEP's, both Western Civilization CLEP's, the American Government CLEP, the Sociology CLEP, both Economics CLEP's, and the Psychology CLEP. This is not the case, so I am sure they would not disallow any credit for taking the general SS&H CLEP after the subject CLEP's.

I took Sociology, History I then, History and Social Science and only got 3 credits for the History and Social Science exam from COSC.

I would check with the school before counting on the credits.

Hmm:confused: Was this because you had the two subject exams or was it one of the two? I'm trying to understand how they see 10% of a general exam equal to 100% of a subject exam.

    Hi CMT

Actually COSC is somewhat famous for disallowing credit if CLEP and other tests are NOT taken in the proper order. I believe their rule is that the general CLEPS must be taken first but I would contact COSC for specific info.

Don't know and I did not fight it. I had 12 credits in excess of the 120 needed for graduation so it did not matter to me.
