Getting A DBA in Data Analytics at Grand Canyon University

I am currently working on my online MBA at Grand Canyon University and have one more year left.

I am thinking about getting an online DBA in data analytics from Grand Canyon University as well.

For those familiar with online PHD programs where you take a class at a time for 8 weeks, how many hours in coursework per week would I possibly have to spend in an online DBA from GCU ?

Why? What do you want to do that you cannot do now but believe you could with a DBA in data analytics?
BS, Info Sys concentration, Charter Oak State College
MA in Educational Tech, George Washington University
PhD in Leadership, U. of the Cumberlands (in progress)

I am currently in the program and I would say its light in the first few classes I have taken. But from what I have been told is that you can expect it to be around 20 hours a week once in more difficult classes. The dissertation will vary depending on your topic. So far its a good program but really relies on who you get as your professor. Right ow I have one that basically gives no feedback and pretty much hands out As with very canned statements. Although this is my 5th class and all of my previous ones were much better.

I got my MBA 2 years ago. I just finished a 2-month certification in data analysis. Now, I'm planning to enroll @ Grand Canyon University in DBA - data analytics on the spring or fall 2018. I found some very informative posts on others forum. Check out this post 'Grand Canyon University DBA - 09-02-2014.' Hope it helps!

You all ever notice how rarely people actually answer this question?

I working on mine solely because I have the GI bill to pay for it. Its to give me a step up on the competition even if its a small one. I would not be doing it if I was not getting it for free.

Personal satisfaction + may be Doctoral degrees are the new Masters now. Secondly some one who is pursuing a DBA surely means he/she isn't interested in teaching /research. So may be encash the doctoral + data analytic buzzword (2-in-1 package). Personally I believe coursera /udemey data analytic certificates/preparations are much better than doing a DBA in analytics and if one has some experience in BI/database he/she don't require any cert either as is common for any CS/SE techie :)

There is no ROI in buying a very good car to drive to work but most people do.
My spouse and I are thinking to move back to southern Canada. My spouse bought an American premium car, but i will take the bus because I preferred to spend that extra money on education . The problem I see on DI with doctorates, is persueing a doctorate solely for adjuncting.

Perfect description of personal satisfaction. But I wonder DBA wasn't designed to address the teaching /research needs, so it shall not be used as a tool for 'adjuncting', but may be true to climb up the corporate ladder. Still remember those days when techies used to hide their doctoral degrees in the corporate world, saw people converting their Phd's to Masters to secure jobs, but now time has changed so quickly.
