    University of the People- MBA

What are anyone's thoughts on this university? It is accredited (albeit DEAC) and has no tuition. You pay a $200 fee per test in a class. Definitely a cheaper way to do it. I just wish the name was different. Not sure I would want to put "University of the People" on a resume.

We have had SO many threads on this school! Here are some:

    University of the People
1st TUITION ONLINE FREE UNIVERSITY:University of the People
    University of the People
    University for The People

    Summary:

    (1) They successfully went from startup to accreditation in the minimum possible time.
    (2) The founder, Shai Reshef, was already experienced in distance education -- and his (and his team's) accomplishments reflect that. Google him.

    (3) As far as the resume goes - if you need a NA box-ticker, this'll do just fine. Plus, you'll have learned a good deal. If you need to be a Harvard grad, well, I guess only Harvard will do.

FWIW - I have nothing against the school, but I'm not fond of the name, either. Name (only) reminds me of this place:

At nearly 75, I'm not in a position to hire anyone, but if I were, this is what I'd do:

All else being equal (as it never is) I'd tend to prefer UOTP grads over quite a few other schools. Why? I think they have proven good business sense! They've earned accredited degrees and (hopefully) acquired business skills at a fraction of what they could have paid, for an education of (hopefully) equal value.

I believe this school is a value meal that actually contains nourishment - that's different to some offerings! I name no names...

To quote the late Joan Rivers: "Am I getting paid for this?"

There's always an alternative, of course. One poster wrote that someone, friend or family, earned an MBA from Duke (Fuqua School of Business) and was subsequently hired for a good position. I would hope so! That excellent program costs $140,000!
