I think the article is Asia specific. In the case of Canada, most business professionals placement agencies prefer people with MBA, CPA, CFA, PMP or other known designation. The MBA normally should be from a known school.
I read the article, and I don't think it's Asia-specific, I think it's just not U.S.-centric. It mentions Indian institutions at one point and has a photo of a Chinese employment fair, sure, but the rest of it covers the rest of the world, including the U.S.
