    All,
Just found out about American University's 12-month online MBA. It is OBSCENELY expensive (around $73k), but for veterans it could be entirely free since they are Yellow Ribbon participants and will fund the remainder of whatever the GI Bill fails to cover.

    Here are some highlights:
-Consists of 48 credits and can be completed in 12, 15, or 24 months
-Six available concentrations including Marketing, Finance, Consulting, etc..,
-No GMAT or business undergrad required; students with no business background will have to complete a "bridge to business" class in conjunction with their first module.
-Two required immersions; one national, one international

I was very happy to complete my online MBA at Temple University, and just finished last month, but I must say this program would have piqued my interest back when I was MBA shopping. Especially for veterans using the GI Bill!

There's nothing at all wrong with lowly ranked/unranked MBAs. But one shouldn't pay more for them than one would for Stanford's.

Oh my gosh. I noticed this thread because I have a little familiarity with American University and friends in the DC area (assuming that is the one you are talking about). I had no idea their MBA was that much. I can throw out one more idea for you because I have a friend who finished their MBA in that area and his school was just written up in "TheStreet.com" as one of the best value colleges (i.e. good salary/low cost tuition ratio). He got his MBA at University of the Potomac which he said was only a couple blocks from the capitol (spelling?). I believe they honor the Yellow Ribbon program as well (but check for yourself just to be sure) and I KNOW for sure that he did not spend anywhere near $73k for his degree. I think it was under $25 but again I'd have to check with him. Anyway, he did mention that it was reasonably priced and I think he finished his MBA in less than 2 years. I think there are a couple of Potomac's in that area (there is also a potomac state college I believe). This is the MBA program he did (not online though): https://potomac.edu/masters-degree-program/mba/ I am looking to get my second Master's degree to better match the area I actually work in and I am so turned off by the high cost of tuition (I have two kids in college myself) so I am also looking to try to find a little less expensive option for myself (thus me peeking around here on this forum). Anyway, just thought i'd chime in in case that helps at all. Good luck.

Well, Google says that there's a Potomac State College in northern West Virginia, but it's over three hours by car from Washington, D.C., and it's definitely not on the D.C.-area higher education radar screen.

University of the Potomac is a local regionally accredited for-profit school. I've worked in higher ed in this city, and never heard anything good or bad about it. I'm not sure why anyone in the area would prefer it to an MBA at in-state rates from George Mason, UMD, Bowie State, or UDC, but perhaps there's a reason of which I'm unaware.
