I am a Canadian business professional with 20 years experience seeking an online MBA program with a couple of filters.

    - No GMAT exam
    - Cost friendly currency versus Canadian dollar
    - Decent optics of university. Not interested in unknown institutions.

My homework has led me to University of Newcastle in Australia.

Does anyone have feedback on this university and/or their online MBA program?

    Thanks.

I would like to keep my budget around $25k CAD as I am paying out of pocket.

As someone with 10 years of executive search experience with all kinds of candidate selection observations, I do not have the patience to explain the value of a reputable MSc. program versus an MBA to many of the mooks the occupy Human Resources.

LOL. "mooks {that} occupy Human Resources".

I hear you for sure on having to "explain" things to those who just don't get it.

I hope you find a program that suits your needs.

There are cheaper and more recognizable MBAs closer to home. It may be a bigger challenge explaining an MBA from an obscure university to HR than the difference between an MBA and a Msc.

In the world of Australian universities Newcastle ranks #12 (according to this article).

There are at least 3 or 4 other rankings that you can easily find via google if you want to cross check. Drilling a bit deeper we see Newcastle somewhere in the third tier of business programs.

There are over 200 online MBA programs worldwide. It's really unclear to me how you managed to narrow it down to Newcastle. Just in case, here are your other choices.

Not a Canadian Dollar friendly currency (British Pound /Sterling); nonetheless, you may want to additionally consider the MBA program via The Open University Business School (UK) in addition to Newcastle (AUS), specifically if MBA Rankings and/or overall brand recognition are of importance.

    MBA: C$24,255 (£12,100)
Open University Institutional accreditation: Royal Charter and Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) U.S.
Open University Business School accreditation: AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS

Fees include study materials, tuition and assessment. Everything is included in the fees – no hidden extras to budget for.

Hi Kizmet: Thanks for the comments. I did read your previous thread on Australian universities.

Highly ranked schools don't do much for me at my career stage. I manage a department of younger MBA graduates from so-called impressive universities.

As per my listed filters, Newcastle and USQ seem to be front-runners at the moment. I also plan to contact many US schools that offer "value online MBAs" to see if their GMAT exam may be waived in consideration of my 20 years business experience.

    Appreciate the insights!
