Hi, I'm a bachelor degree holder in Accounting to be precise, and I'm presently in the USA. I want to extend my career by doing my master in MBA Accounting or Finance. I graduated with a GPA of 2.94 from Ghana and I'm finding it difficult to get an AACSB University with class room teaching in order to continue my education journey. I also took the IELTS Exams and I got 5.5 for my total band. Are there universities in the USA with good standard you can recommend to me? I wouldn't mind if I can take a semester for prerequisite courses. My major aim is to get a good university that will accept my GPA and also waive the GMAT.
Might want to consider some UK universities with AMBA accreditation if you can't/won't do the GMAT. Look into Warwick, Durham, Reading or Hull.
I never understand these sorts of inquiries. If a school doesn't require the GMAT then fair enough, but I don't see why someone willing to go through the effort of earning an MBA would be put off by the comparatively trivial requirement to take the GMAT first.
The GMAT is routinely a requirement of AACSB accredited B-Schools; however, the GMAT requirement can be [petitioned for /waived] if the applicant meets certain criteria of the business school (i.e., high undergraduate GPA, is a graduate degree holder…).
Take a look at Frostburg University. I seem to recall that they waive the GMAT under certain conditions like GPA or work experience.
Frostburg State GMAT Waiver Option: Waiver of the GMAT/GRE admission test is an option for students who meet the following criteria: Have masters or higher level degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher based on a 4.0 scale Have a bachelor degree with a GPA of 3.65 or higher based on a 4.0 scale (no work experience required). Have a bachelor degree GPA of 3.25 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) with two years of relevant work experience; This options requires waiver to be requested in writing with an accompanied resume highlighting work experience Admission Requirements - Frostburg State University
Major, thanks for pulling the info and link. Unfortunately it doesn't look like any of the options will be suitable for the OP. I've always liked this school. Very reasonable tuition for an AACSB degree, especially if you are a Maryland resident like me.
