Looking to transfer- ACBSP only. Any suggestions?

Long story short I decided to leave the MBA program at Norwich University. I really liked the school and the program, but they transitioned to a new online portal/ format which is not user friendly and ridiculously difficult to navigate. Many graduate students (MBA or otherwise) are now leaving the school in droves.

I have 6 transfer units and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I do not have an undergraduate in business, and I have zero aspirations to teach. So I'm only focusing my search on ACBSP accredited schools.

I'm only interested in regionally accredited, non-profit schools in the U.S. and the tuition rate doesn't matter because I have free ride courtesy of the VA.

Any suggestions? (BTW, I don't want to get into the AACSB vs. ACBSP debate if at all possible)

That is a possibility. I spoke to admissions and they said they are "working to resolve their issues" as the outcry from students is so wide spread . . . I told them I would return to the program, but what I'm questioning is how long will it take for them to correct their issues and really how long do I want to wait just to see if they do so. Looking for plan B so to speak.

In that there are numerous ACBSP accredited B-Schools … why not just view all the options available via the ACBSP website Search - ACBSP Since you’ve completed your first 6-hours at Norwich … those two courses should be an easy transfer to essentially any receiving university MBA program. And given that tuition is of no concern—here’s a few (in no particular order or preference) Private B&M ACBSP accredited online MBA programs you might want to consider:

    DBU Online Programs
MBA - Master of Business Administration - DeSales University
    Online Graduate Degrees
MBA Aviation Management | MBA Degree Program Aviation Management
Master of Business Administration - Online
    MBA-Business Administration
Tiffin University | Master of Business Administration

Since you have completed only 6 semester hours, you should be able to transfer anywhere for an MBA program. Since you are only interested in RA and non-profit, why is not choosing the most prestigious school as possible?

I'm trying to imagine how inconvenient an LMS would have to be to get me to change schools after I had already built momentum there and didn't have a problem with any other aspect of it....

What prestigious school with ACBSP accreditation do you suggest?

If I can say this in the kindest, gentlest possible way, we have about a skagillion threads about the pros and cons of various MBA programs and honestly, the info doesn't change that quickly.

Having said that I'll say this: pick the best program closest to you. That way you have the best chance of benefitting from whatever alumni aura is generated by that school. Otherwise, choose UMass.

As an afterthought I'll add a counterpoint to those who have urged you to stick out your current program. Part of what you're buying is good services and good resources. If the school is providing a bad experience then I see no reason to stay. There are too many alternatives around to tolerate bad services. As for the school's promise to fix things, well of course they're going to make promises. What else would they say, "We know our system sucks but you're just going to have to put up with it, oh, and by the way, tuition is going up in order to pay for this shitty system we bought." This is business, right? Promises mean nothing. Delivering on promises is everything.

If Norwich is absolutely a no-go for you … I’ll simply submit two additional older established B&M Private universities (both in Ohio) to consider transfer; with the stipulation that actually none (Public or Private) of the ACBSP accredited B-Schools would inevitably be deemed as a pedigree /Brand name university (same for most AACSBs):

The University of Findlay (founded 1882) MBA-Business Administration
Tiffin University (founded 1888) Tiffin University | Master of Business Administration

I actually did just that. A few schools came up but none of them I am really familiar with, and there was a ton of for-profit schools listed as well. I did find a few that I am currently looking at, and one or two that I found elsewhere and I can't determine who accredits them:

    City University of Seattle
    University of the Incarnate Word
    Southern New Hampshire University
Texas A&M University - Central Texas
    Texas A&M University- Kingsville
    University of North Alabama
    Golden Gate University
    University of Central Oklahoma

If anyone here is familiar with any of these schools, please feel free to chime in. . . I know a little about GGU as they are located in my own backyard, and I've heard of SNHU but their marketing makes me a little apprehensive. I feel like their guerrilla marketing could earn them the perception of being a UoP type school. I also have a friend that got his masters from University of the Incarnate Word, but he wasn't a business major.

    NorCal,

You may want to also consider an additional Texas A&M University System university B-School—e.g., Tarleton State University (founded 1899). They’ll accept up to 12-transfer hours (a 36-hour program). I initially completed 15-hours of their MBA program; however, I then decided to pursue an AACSB accredited program … e.g., transferred to WTAMU. Too, WTAMU accepted the maximum of 12-hours I transferred-in from Tarleton.

So I've looked at a few of your suggestions and found most programs require "leveling courses" because I don't have an undergraduate in business. Do you know of a good program where I can avoid these courses. If I didn't have a professional business background I would consider them useful.

    Chadron State (ACBSP):

New applicants will be required to complete the Peregrine Pre-Program Assessment Exam prior to enrolling in courses. This exam costs approximately $32.00, does not require any preparation, and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. A link and password to access the exam will be provided once the admission application has been processed.
    • Students who attain a satisfactory score can then proceed with their MBA degree with no additional preparatory or prerequisite coursework needed.
Master of Business Administration - Graduate Studies - Chadron State College

    UT-Tyler (AACSB)

    MBA Additional Admission Requirements

    Leveling Courses

There are no leveling courses for admission, and the program is open to applicants with a bachelor's degree in any discipline. However, students must have ECON 5300 (or macro- and micro- economics at the undergraduate level) prior to taking ECON 5320. Also, MATH 1342 Statistics is highly recommended prior to MANA 5305 (see degree plan).”

    Transfer Coursework

Subject to approval by the coordinator of graduate programs and the dean of the College of Business and Technology, students may transfer up to nine hours of graduate credit earned at an approved university.

Here's three AACSB programs that may meet your requirements:

    University of Louisiana-Monroe

    Program Prerequisites
    Accounting 2012 and 2013, or 5002
    Economics 2001 and 2002, or 5002
    Finance 3015
    Management 3001 and 3009
    Marketing 3001
    Quantitative Methods 2010

    Requirements can be met by:
    1. Passing non-credit proficiency examinations in the foundation areas
    2. Passing CLEP or DSST examinations for undergraduate credit or passing ULM credit examinations in those subjects in which there are no CLEP or DSST examinations available, or
    3. Completing the background courses with a grade of C or better.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) | ULM University of Louisiana at Monroe

Texas Southern University: online Executive MBA in General Business or Energy Finance

Acceptance is based upon several factors: previous academic performance, professional work experience, and letters of recommendation. An ideal candidate would possess a baccalaureate degree and five (5) years of progressive and significant work experience at the management or supervisory level.

And if you are open to a MBA by examination only, with no requirement for leveling courses, there’s the Heriot-Watt University (EBS) possibility.
