I can see this dialogue taking place:

HR Person: "your university is lovely?"

Job seeker: "Well, yes indeed. Thank you!"

Note that this refers to "Notre Dame de Namur University", a small school (about 2,000 students) in the San Francisco Bay area, which does not have a football team.

This is different from the "University of Notre Dame", a much larger school in Indiana, which does have a football team. The University of Notre Dame has AACSB accreditation for its business and accounting programs (not ACBSP).

Lovely Professional University may have a name that sounds odd to Western ears, but it's a large and well established university.

Randell you crack me up, lol.

Notre Dame de Namur is not he real Notre Dame University like the play on the name alludes too. (Not a knock to Notre Dame de Namur other than the name)

Xavier- I think Xavier of Ohio and a basketball school. Here on this list we have Xavier of Bangalore, but I don't know about their basketball prowess; but I can also tell you that Etugen Institute, of Ulaan Baatar, does have a basketball team, and that they play a rough, very physical game.

Indeed it is -- and 100% approved by all the usual Government-mandated sources. In another thread, I seem to remember Dr. John Bear's remark: "Well, at least they didn't call it "Sexy Professional University."

OOPS! Sorry, Dr. Bear - I just checked. It wasn't your remark - it was Steve Foerster's, on another forum (DD). Some years ago, when Lovely Professional University was mentioned here, Dr. Bear did make a remark about school names in Boring, Oregon...
