Hi all - I was interested in taking my MBA and this forum has given me lots of info. The only hurdle I've wondering about is that, have other Canadians gone down this route? I read that my province accepts regionally accredited MBAs (Alberta). I just have to get an IQAS done?

The reason why I'm hesitating taking a MBA from Canada is the cost! I'm also not really interested in going to school fulltime. I understand that I'm giving up networking opportunities.

Background: 7 yrs exp working for an Oil and Gas company as a Senior Financial Analyst

    Suggestions, tips, recommendations?

If you can find a suitable MBA program that has both regional and AACSB accreditation, that might serve you better than one with regional accreditation alone.

Regional accreditation is rare outside of the US, but AACSB accreditation is widely recognized internationally. Most of the top Canadian business schools are AACSB-accredited (this includes U of Alberta and U of Calgary), so an AACSB-accredited degree from the US should have no acceptance issues.

If you haven't already done so, you might look at Athabasca U, an Alberta school with a strong reputation for online education.

I got my MBA from an american university in US. As long as programs are accredited and the school rank is good you should not be worried. You can take a look herethe 3577 MBA Graduate Programs & Graduate Schools Page No: 1 - GradSchools.com and for the ranking I would recommenden to Financial Times or Forbes

    Hello SVSV,
I agree with Study89. As long as you have a good diploma in a recognized university you won’t have any issues in the future. The better the U the easier it’ll be!
It’s actually the case for me as I’m doing my online MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business while working in London.
If you’re not too keen on going to school full time have you considered doing an online MBA ?

For the school rankings you can also check out QS’s Top MBA’s. They’re a good renown source!
