I am getting ready to finish my MBA with an accounting concentration. As of now, I am headed into the industry. However, this may not be a permanent placement as I am considering getting my PHD in the future. Does anyone have suggestions for a solid PHD program for accounting?

There's an AACSB Australian school that offers a PhD primarily via DL, although the name escapes me at the moment. Perhaps another DI member will remember it.
I am sure Grenoble (http://www.grenoble-em.com/home.aspx) will allow you do do a dissertation on Accounting topic. You may want to contact the school for more info. Grenoble is AACSB/AMBA/EQUIS accredited.
Thank you. I was thinking more around the Midwest in the US since my current graduate school is in Kansas, but this gives me a good start!
Most DBAs will allow any business subject but when it comes to teaching, business schools tend to be picky and would prefer a specialized program and not just a general business degree with a dissertation in a particular subject. That is why DBAs are not so popular in academia unless they are specialized. If the OP wants to become a faculty member in accounting, the transcript would need to read "Accounting major" or "Accounting specialization"
