I am getting ready to finish my MBA with an accounting concentration. As of now, I am headed into the industry. However, this may not be a permanent placement as I am considering getting my PHD in the future. Does anyone have suggestions for a solid PHD program for accounting?

There's an AACSB Australian school that offers a PhD primarily via DL, although the name escapes me at the moment. Perhaps another DI member will remember it.

QUT offers one in Australia but it is not cheap, it is in the 80K range

Thank you. I was thinking more around the Midwest in the US since my current graduate school is in Kansas, but this gives me a good start!

Most DBAs will allow any business subject but when it comes to teaching, business schools tend to be picky and would prefer a specialized program and not just a general business degree with a dissertation in a particular subject. That is why DBAs are not so popular in academia unless they are specialized.

If the OP wants to become a faculty member in accounting, the transcript would need to read "Accounting major" or "Accounting specialization"
