    Hi Sisay,

What level do you want to study, Bachelor's, Master's or doctorate? Do you have previous degrees? What is your price range? What other things can you tell us about your goals and so forth?

Having worked with a lot of international students, I can tell you it's not just about the language. Western culture is different in its style of communication than other cultures are. This forum for a long time has been internationally minded. Part of that is being gentle with those who are well meaning, but may not initially communicate in the exact way that native speakers of English might expect. Yes, the truth is that Sisay needs to learn English better. But that's not a call for mockery.

Steve, I can only speak for myself. I'm not mocking the OP; I'm asking for a question. So the person wants to do a DL in Econ . . . okay . . .and your question is? Is that mocking?

I agree with you, SteveFoerster. I am African and currently residing in Europe for about two years now. When I arrived here for the first time, I ''offended'' a lot of people because of the way I communicated with the people here. While I consider myself a native speaker of English, the way we communicate with one another in Nigeria, is so different from the way they do communicate here. I still try to maintain some formality and go along the same line westerners (especially Europeans and Americans) go when they communicate. Sometimes, it is difficult, other times, it is easy. Even here on this forum, I try to be ''cautious'' so that my questions and contributions would not be termed ''stupid.'' Mastery of English language or not, the way people communicate, the tone they use, and how they ask questions or jump to conversation, varies across the globe.
