Online MBA | University of Arizona | Eller College of Management

This program seems very interesting. It can be completed in 1 year 2 months, sounds VERY short and AACSB to boot. The tuition is $45,000, pretty reasonable imo considering it has pretty good name recognition.

How does this compare to ASU online MBA? U of A is shorter and cheaper by $10K.

ASU's MBA program is much more well regarded, but UofA still offers strong name recognition.

I haven't read through the program description but I'm assuming that this degree completion period of 14 months requires full-time participation. If you can afford to be unemployed (or underemployed) for that period then it's a good deal. I've always liked the Arizona brand.

Hmmm, really? Much more? I always thought U of A had a slightly better academic reputation with ASU having more of a party vibe. But then again this was just my impression in the 90's. Things may have changed.

I can't afford to be unemployed or underemployed. But would definitely consider this if it can be done within this time frame while being fully employed. I filled out my info so they should be contacting me. I'll definitely share what I find out.

I think that's pretty accurate of the schools in whole, but when specifically discussing the business schools it's a different story. Carey's (ASU) MBA program is ranked #30 by USNWR, Eller (UofA) is ranked #44. Granted, those are full-time rankings, but Carey has the stronger reputation. Now is it $10k stronger, that's really up to the individual to decide.

Knowing what I know now, this would have been great when I started my MBA at UoP. Not sure I could ever justify having two MBAs. Admittedley I would have never got into the UoA MBA as my undergrad gpa is near rock bottom. That whole "going to class" thingy didn't suit me in my younger days.

Thanks for the info. Knowing that I'm not top 20 MBA material, both school's reputation is more than good enough for me. I was actually surprised though that the U of A tuition was cheaper than ASU. I think I like U of A a little better because their online MBA is more under the radar. ASU seems like they're aggressively marketing their MBA with billboards and radio ads.

Yeah there are many better alternatives for an MBA from UOP these days. I had a former manager who received his MBA from UOP in the late 90's while working full time and I'm sure he wished he would've had the choices today.

2 MBA's would be over the top imo =)

Just wanted to add that this program can be done in 14 months while fully employed. But you would have to take 2 classes at a time and the classes are only 8 weeks long. Having spoken to one of their reps they are very stringent on their requirements of needing a 3.0 GPA and at least a 510 GMAT. I've never taken the GMAT and this score doesn't seem very high but still intimidating none the less.

It's not the GMAT that gets me, it's the undergrad GPA. I have over a 3.0 in grad school but so does every other schmuck with a masters.

Actually RichC. since you already have a masters degree they would waive your undergrad gpa requirement, not sure of the GMAT though. Although since you already have an MBA I would think it would be silly for them to require you to take the GMAT.
