College of Extended Learning - MBA for Executives Graduate Degree Program

I came across this because I'm always looking for an AACSB accredited MBA program in SoCal that won't break the bank. This program is $39,000 bucks and can be completed in 15 months. This is much cheaper and can be done in a shorter time frame than SDSU which up to this point is the cheapest EMBA I found in SoCal. FYI CSUSB also has an online MBA which I would assume is cheaper than $39,000 bucks.

I completed CSUSB's regular MBA program and thought it was a good program; however, I cannot speak for their Executive MBA program. I do know it follows a different format than the regular program. If you live close to CSUSB, you should take a look at UCR's program too. UCR is more expensive and much more of a competitive program to get into, but is a more prestigious program. If your GMAT score is 600+, you should give UCR a shot.

I would personally stay away from CSUSB's online MBA program; it is roughly $39k. It is expensive and requires campus residencies. For that price, you might as well attend the traditional or executive program.

Thanks! Good to know that CSUSB is a good program, haven't read any reviews. I don't live particularly close to either school but I would drive at least an hour to CSUSB because it's tuition is lower than UCR. I know UCR is a better program (underrated imo) than CSUSB but it costs A LOT more. Nothing against UCR but if I were to spend that kind of money on an MBA I'd probably spend it on UCI, UCSD, or even Pepperdine due to more national recognition.

You're right I would probably go with the EMBA over the online if the tuition is equal. However, full time would not be an option for me.

    You're welcome.

Is AACSB a deciding factor for you? If not, you have lots of other local choices at the various local private universities.

My wife is attending University of Redland's MBA program and it is a great program with a wonderful format. The program is 2 years with continuous 8-week classes that meet once a week and the school offers several locations where you can take classes all throughout SoCal. Furthermore, it is $38k and doesn't require the GMAT. I would recommend you take a look at it: Master of Business Administration

Getting back to UCR. I have actually heard from professors who have taught at both CSUSB and UCR that UCR is overrated and for the price, you get a much better education and program out of CSUSB. I agree, if UCR is a lot more then I'd definitely steer towards UCI, UCSD, Pepperdine or Claremont.

If you have any general questions about CSUSB's program, let me know.

Thanks, University of Redlands seems like a good program too. But for the comparable pricing to CSUSB, I would think CSUSB would be a better choice considering it's AACSB accredited. I'm somewhat surprised you didn't convince your wife otherwise, being that you got your MBA there. But then again we all have our reasons =) Actually, if I chose a non AACSB accredited I probably would choose CSUDH which I think is significantly cheaper than University of Redlands.

I've been doing a lot of research on graduate degrees for the past several years, but I've been so gun shy to move forward due to constant changes in both my personal/professional life. So far though CSUSB MBA seems to be one of the better fits for what I want in an advanced degree. I appreciate all your input and will definitely ask more questions if I do end up applying to the CSUSB MBA.

Definitely, best of luck! My wife ended up choosing University of Redlands over CSUSB for several reasons; it was just overall a great fit for her and her working situation the way it is set-up. Plus we live 10 minutes from its main campus...which is a perk!

  7. I agree. CSUDH MBA is completely online and tuition is $440 per unit - times 30 units, the entire degree is just over $13k. My brother got his there (CLEPped most of his undergrad). He reported is as challenging and worthwhile.
