Found this company in India offering Phd's that can be finished in as little as 2 years. Welcome to IIIBSR IIIBSR | Degrees & Certifications The doctorate programs are in full accreditation and in affiliation with West Coast University, Panama, Central America under Parliamentary Charter that bears full validity and recognition with all member governments and nations under international law statutes recognized by the Vienna Convention of April 18th, 1961, (1963). Does this make the degrees from West Coast legit in any scale?
I can't speak to the credibility of the degrees, but their website is remarkably similar to my alma mater's: IIIBSR | PhD DU Graduate Degree Programs | University of Denver
Then I will. I can't see how IIBSR can issue a valid Indian degree on its own. AFAIK, no UGC, AICTE, DEC approval to do so. West Coast can issue degrees - legal but but with no standing. We've been over this one a hundred times. Private Universities in Panama can obtain licenses that make their degrees legal - but without any standing. A mainstream University in Panama has to subject its teaching etc. to the scrutiny of the University Of Panama and receive approval. These "private schools" do not. A "West Coast Panama" degree is unaccredited, in US terms. For starters, it's on the "Oregon List" http://www.oregonstudentaid.gov/oda-degree-authorization-academic-unauthorized-Invalid.aspx As an example of a school with similar uh-credibility, "Breyer State University" is now licensed in Panama. Guess it has run out of suitable homes in the US - Idaho, Alabama, Idaho again, then California -- and now, Panama. Johann
Their "write a book, get a degree" approach...are they trying to be the "Rushmore University" of India? Johann
Not quite, Lance. Maybe just below it, as I see it. And we're talking of course, about the old ("Captain" Kirk - beam me up!) La Salle in Mandeville, LA - This one: James Kirk diploma mills - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Not the GOOD school in Philadelphia:La Salle University :: Philadelphia, PA Right? Johann
Johann, I am reminded of Cornerstone University (REAL) Cornerstone University | Build a Life That Matters versus Cornerstone University (FRAUD) Cornerstone University - Excellence in Education Since 1985 Or for those of us who graduated from Liberty University... Liberty University (REAL) Liberty University Christian College Education versus Liberty International University (FRAUD) Official website of Liberty International University - LIU - Private School
It's probably intended. As "they" say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Sometimes, though, these "schools" commit outright theft. I recall a recent thread in which the Chancellor of William H. Taft University alerted us that a mill had stolen most of its site-wording from the Taft University site. In chasing down the details, I found another, possibly-related mill that had stolen wording from the site of RA Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry NY. Difficult to prosecute when the "perp" is in India, Vietnam, Wallis & Futuna Islands or points east! BTW - I couldn't help smiling when one of the principals of IIBSR stated his credentials and joked that he was also a "rubbish Badminton player." I suspect this school is a purveyor of "rubbish" degrees. Here's the site-theft thread: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/45994-border-institute-technology.html Johann
From the West Coast University (Panama) site: "California University FCE certifies the credits earned at WCU to be equivalent to any other nationally and regionally accredited colleges and universities of United States of America." CUFCE is not a NACES/AACRAO-recognized credential evaluator. As I see it, a certificate from here is meaningless at best and could possibly be troublesome, at worst. Look up CUFCE with the search gadget. Many threads. Johann
