Hello, I am looking for a professor that might be interested in taking me on as a Phd Student at an AACSB school. I know professors frequent this forum so I was wondering if any are looking for students. I am including a compressed/unpersonalized CV below to give you a general idea of my experience and interests. I am interested in pursuing a career in Academia post PhD. I will say, my GMAT scores have expired, but I do have the GRE if your school will accept that. I appreciate any qualified professors taking the time to review this. I am happy to provide a full CV and further info on my research interests to any Professor interested in me as a research and/or teaching assistant. Thank you. I agree that this is a fantastic idea, and I wish you all luck, and a great post. Just for the record, I think this makes a category mistake. UNWR rankings don't rank Cedarville University alongside post-secondary schools in the Midwest generally, just a very specific subset. I see Cedarville is currently, too, ranked #5 within the USNWR list of "Regional Colleges" in the Midwest. This is very impressive. USNWR also concurrently ranks a list of Regional Universities in the Midwest, and lists of National Universities and National Liberal Arts Colleges that both include some schools in the Midwest. University of Chicago is National University #4; Carleton College, in Northfield, MN, is National Liberal Arts College #8. Schools on the National list are not also part of the rankings in any regional list, even though most would probably rank quite highly there. So we can't say that the #5 school in Regional Colleges Midwest would also rank #5 among Midwest schools overall. Cedarville is still, very clearly, a highly-ranked school.
The assumption here is that one should take U.S. News rankings seriously. I do not, and I don't think I'm alone.
This would work if you do a search among the professors at Aston Business School or Manchester Business School. http://www1.aston.ac.uk/aston-business-school/programmes/research/ http://www.mbs.ac.uk/dba/
You are going about this the wrong way. You need to figure out exactly what you want to do first, and why. Then you need to figure out who the top dogs are in that field, and then reach out to them directly. When you do find someone who is willing to talk with you, do not utter the words, "US News and World Report". Just don't.
You may want to consider attending some academic conferences in your areas of interest. For example, with your interest in Global Supply Chain, Sourcing/Procurement, you may wish to attend the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) North American Research and Teaching Symposium (http://www.ism.ws/education/content.cfm?ItemNumber=22389) or even the ISM Annual Conference (http://www.ism.ws/conferences/content.cfm?ItemNumber=23165). Attending these conferences will afford you the opportunity to network with the academics who are researching and publishing in these areas. This may lead to opportunities as a research assistant, which may then lead to an opportunity as a doctorate student.
Thank you everyone for your feedback - I value it - even those who wanted to rain on my parade, so to speak. I actually do know what I want to study, and I have an offer to study in my field of choice overseas, I was just wondering if this forum held any professors from here in the US looking for a student before I make my final decision. Im pretty excited (and thankful!) for the offer I have though, so plan on accepting it. In regards to attending the academic conferences - this is a great idea and a great way to network in your field - you are right. But I would like to see more people and professors connecting in this type of medium.
