Does anyone have experience they want to share with online Masters in Engineering Management. I have applied to 4 programs and I can use any information or help in deciding between them. The 4 are Penn State, University of Colorado Boulder, Purdue/Thunderbird, and UNC Charlotte. I have read several threads on Penn State World Campus and the various colleges/campus that fall under that heading. The MEM degree is officially from Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies. One advantage of this program is the cohort/2 year fixed timeline. How does this school/campus stack up against the other 3 and how is it perceived. I appreciate any feedback.
I would recommend going to a school in your state. Which state are you in? USF is my local university and they have a MSEM. I was considered doing this degree and I would choose USF over almost any other school just because it is local.
How do you know that he meant the University of South Florida? I mean, he could have meant the University of Saint Francis, the University of San Francisco, or the University of Sioux Falls.
Just for my benefit, would describe the difference, from a curriculum perspective, between a Masters in Engineering Mgmt. and an MBA? Thanks.
Here is Ohio States description of their MEM Master of Engineering Management | Online Master of Engineering Management An MBA can include a wide variety of courses not necessarily related to engineering. I expect that an MEM applicant may need to have earned an UG engineering degree.
Sorry Ian but the link you provided doesn't actually show the curriculum and it requires me to "register" in order to get any information at all. To me that means that I'll spend the next six months deleting emails from Ohio State. I have an engineering degree. I know it will focus more on engineering. I want to know TO WHAT EXTENT is this an engineering degree and to what extent is this a management degree. I'm being totally lazy. I want someone else to do my homework. I'm trying to understand if a Masters in Eng. Mgmt. is substantially different than an MBA. What are we talking about? Two elective courses? Or a substantially different curriculum? Please pardon my short temper. The Patriots were supposed to crush the Jets today but they barely won at all.
Correction - it was not an Ohio State degree. Here is the Ohio University course list Engineering Management Courses | Ohio University's Online Master of Engineering Management Also here is what the Duke program includes: http://memp.pratt.duke.edu/sites/memp.pratt.duke.edu/files/d-MEMP%20Program%20Overview%208.6.2012.pdf
Here is a page on the CU Boulder site comparing the MBA and MEM. My undergraduate degree is Aerospace Engineering. My wife is getting an MBA but this curriculum seemed more interesting and applicable to me. My only concern is people know what an MBA is and I am worried they may say "what is this." On the other hand this is more unique. Masters in Engineering Management | University of Colorado Boulder Engineering Management Program | ME vs. MBA | Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program
