    Hello,
Im finishing up my bachelors degree, looking to go into an MBA. I am not interested in going into tons of debt persuing an MBA. I would like to keep the entire deal under $10,000... I have narrowed it down to either WSC or Chadron, but am leaning toward WSC due to their accreditation. Suggestions? Any other schools I have overlooked?
    Thanks.

These are essentially sister colleges. They even share some degree plans (or did a year or so ago). There isn't really much difference. Both are State/Regional institutions that are no doubt well regarded locally with little to no national name. The AACSB is something WSC has going for it.

Chadron does come up from time to time in rankings as a "best buy" something I have never heard related to WS. I don't really see that as much of a positive though.

Chadron does have a unique program to allow a non business major to complete their pre-reqs via an outside vendor and gain access to the program...you take a test then work on any deficiencies. Kinda cool.

You might take a look at Fort Hayes and Western Governors. Both offer a comparable status school with some difference in how the programs are delivered.

Chadron is good to work with...I almost matriculated there once upon a time.

What difference in accreditation are we talking about? Neither Wayne State College nor Chadron State College has AACSB accreditation. You can verify this at the AACSB website.

Perhaps there is confusion here between Wayne State College (in Nebraska) vs. Wayne State University (in Michigan). The Michigan Wayne State does have AACSB, but the Nebraska Wayne State does not.

Wayne State College does have IACBE accreditation for its business programs.
Then again, Chadron State College has ACBSP accreditation for its business programs.

Neither ACBSP nor IACBE is as prestigious as AACSB. Of the two, I would probably give an edge to ACBSP (which would be Chadron State), but I'm not sure that the difference is significant.

Have you also considered Eastern New Mexico University's program? It is even cheaper than WSC or Chadron. IIRC, the MBA at ENMU was under $6,000. ENMU is ACBSP accredited.

    Wayne State College

As Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Wayne State College let me clarify some of the above information. Wayne State College is located in the northeast corner of Nebraska. It has an enrollment of approximately 3750 students. WSC is largely an on campus face-to-face institution (90% of credit hours produced). WSC has three online programs: the MBA, an MS in Education and a Education Specialist degree. It is part of the Nebraska State College System (Chadron State College is also in the system). The tuition rate is established by the Systems Office and is the same for both colleges. The WSC program is a thirty hour, graduate courses only, program. Chadron's is 36 hours. All WSC CBK deficiencies must be made up outside of the program. Chadron requires undergraduate courses to remove deficiencies. We utilize a unique software approach provide by Ivy Software (ivysoftware.com) to assist students with removing deficiencies. We do require a 450 GMAT score. Chadron does not. The GMAT requirement assists us in creating a cohort of students with solid academic abilities. We believe that the quality of an online program is significantly enhanced when the students are interacting with other quality students. During the 2011-2012 academic year all of our MBA courses were taught by full-time doctorially-qualified (in the discipline taught) faculty. The focus of our program is developing skills that students will find useful in the workplace. We are application based rather then theory based. WSC is accredited by the IACBE, the number one outcomes assessment based accreditor in the world. IACBE is accredited by CHEA as is the ACBSP and the AACSB. We are not a research oriented school and thus AACSB accreditation is not appropriate for us. The tuition rate for online courses is the same regardless of the student's location, $262.50 pch (this includes fees). Our program goal is a to have a high quality, skill based program. Quality is a more important factor for us then student numbers. We appreciate all of the publicity we have gotten because of our price. Our new nationwide student base has enhance the diversity of students in our program.
If you are interested in our program please contact us at [email protected]. The MBA coordinator will quickly respond to your questions. The student service that she provides is one of our strengths. While Chadron State College is a "sister institution" the programs have little in common.
