    Hello everyone,

    I have my bachelors of science in criminal justice and I am currently looking at attending graduate school. I've applied to different universities such as Argosy,Strayer, Texas Southern University and Clark Atlanta Univ. for the MPA program and I wanted to know which school is more credible. I am alittle reluctant of Argosy and Strayer because they are for profit universities but they both have regional accreditation. I am from Chicago but have lived in Los Angeles and Houston which Argosy has a Los Angeles campus and Houston of course is where Texas Southern is located so I do not mind relocating. Due to the economy I want to make the best decision career wise for me...Please help :sadwavey:

  2. I can provide a little insight on Clark-Atlanta University. I am assuming you would be moving to Atlanta because I don't think they offer an online MPA. It's great school. It's probably one of the better HBCU's in Georgia. With that said, it cost an arm and leg. I don't think the name carries all the way to California.

    I didn't vote since I don't know much about any of the schools (other than I hate the name "Argosy" because it sounds like a skin disease), but for name recognition, this is going to be hard to beat, and it's NASPAA-accredited;

    I would recommend to avoid Strayer University and Argosy University all together. As far other schools....does the school have to be HBCU? Also do you prefer on campus program, or distance learning? If distance learning then you should check out Valdosta State University's MPA program simply the tuition is really affordable. "Graduate eTuition Rate for Fall 2011: $255 per credit hour, $765 per three hour course." Dr. Truckie just earned his Doctor of Public Administration from Valdosta State University, maybe you can contact him for more information. Other good school include University of Montana's online MPA.
