It sounds crazy to me, but my husband told me that he was thinking about complete career change. He has BS in Theology and MS in PR. He is 39 and has spent almost 20 years working in church, charity and medias. And now he says he had enough and wants something completely new and different for the next decade of his life. I am trying to understand. What he is interested in is Graduate certificate in Statistics, with possibility to extend it in MS in Statistics. And now I would really like to hear your opinions about Grad Certificate in Statistics. If he spend one year to get this, will he be able to find ANY JOB and what kind of job it could be? Would anybody give a chance to newly graduated statistician, with Grad Cert only, without any previous stat experience? My other concern is the fact that he is not strong in Math, at least he did not do this for decades, and I really wonder how difficult it could be for him. I do not want be pessimistic, nor want to discourage him, but in this moment it all looks like an "impossible mission" to me. Just too much demanding. What do you think? How smart this step will be? Is there a job for such a guy in the future? How to start. Seems that he made that decision and will not change his minds. Thank you for your feedback.
There are good jobs for people with masters degrees in statistics for people with a technical, business, or insurance background. CSU offers such a degree CSU Online Plus - Statistics | Online Master's Degree - Colorado State University In my opinion (and I use statistics a lot but in a very narrow field) one needs to be good at, and enjoy, math.
