any body would advise me which university is better Heriot-watt or Leicester for MBA program. I made an extensive research on both names and I did find tangible difference. Even during ranking investigation, I found various openions and accreditation. Each magazine goes with its own estimation.

The only difference I touched that Heriot-watt is more focus through exam. However, Leicester prefers assignment & research through papers presented regularely during the period of program.

    which is better and why??!!

There was a thread on this already posted. I had the same dilemma. On the one hand, EBS offers distance learning where I am, and offers me exemptions (4) in the MSc Finance, and MBA (2). But despite its good reputation it only has Royal Charter, no AMBA, EQUIS, nor AACSB. Leicester has AMBA accreditation. If accreditation matters more to you, go with Leicester.
Both are very well known internationally, with EBS the more popular of the two. Maybe that's because the AMBA requires prospective students to have at least 3 years managerial experience...the EBS MBA doesn't. If you're schedule allows you time for research and assignments, and a dissertation, and you prefer that method of study - Leicester. If not, one off exams - EBS.

In the end, being young and having no managerial experience, I decided it was better for me to pursue the MSc Fin from EBS in the future.

Check out the link below. Hope it helps.

Leicester worldwide ranking (according to the Times Higher Education): 197
    Heriot-Watt: between 351 and 400

    ranking.

We should forget about ranking. I can provide documents for both universities with higher ranking more than anybody expects. In addition, Ranking is continuosely changing every year, I can not go with a specific university because its level this year in a certain magazin then next year it will be going down.

I am very confused really. However, I found Heriot- watt is more suitable in style of teaching and flexibility although many friends send me warning about how much it is difficult while leicester is comparatively easier and diluted.

Heriot-Watt ranked #4 in economics in 2012, right up there with Oxford, Cambridge, and LSE. University guide 2012: Economics | Education | guardian.co.uk .

    Heriot-Watt named Scottish University of the Year 2012 - http://www.hw.ac.uk/documents/sunday-times-university-guide.pdf .

Granted, these rankings are not focused on the business school, but not bad for a little university without AMBA, EQUIS, or AACSB. :wink1:

As long as you're dealing with a Royal Chartered British university, the differences in acceptability are negligible. DUring the 9 years I was doing US/Canada marketing for Heriot-Watt, during which time it became the largest MBA of any kind available in the US, acceptance in business, government, and academia was extremely high (well into the 90s). I also did marketing for Leicester, but not the MBA -- their distance MS in training. The two main differences are size (Heriot-Watt is still one of the largest MBAs in the world), and, as you pointed out, academic model. The general feeling is that the exams are tough but fair. Requires a score of 50 (out of 100) to pass . . . and then there is the arcane (to my thinking) "compensatory pass," which permits students who have passed some exams, but then fail an exam twice, but came close, to draw points from a little storehouse (of 5 points) and apply them retroactively to an exam score, if it would take one from fail to pass.

PS: Based on our telephone interactions with potential students, about 50% mispronounced Edinburgh, and about 90% mispronounced Leicester.
