I have read about online MBAs here under $10,000 (ULM). Any AACSB and non-AACSB online Masters in Accounting programs? The cheapest MAcc I found was from Franklin University for a total cost of around $15,000.

Under $10,000 is probably a hard find. Any ideas of Masters of Acc under $15,000? AMU's (non-AACSB) MSA is around $11,700.

Liberty U's MS Acc is $7500 for veterans and active duty military assuming all prerequisites have been met.

I don't know if your goal is to have enough credits to write the CPA but at some point I was following the ACCA qualification that is equivalent to a 80 credits according to WES. If you have an undergraduate, that gives you plenty to write the CPA. The ACCA is 14 exams and each exam costs around $150

Last I heard, University of West Florida's Online Masters in Accountancy only charged in-state tuition for online students, making it pretty cheap. UWF - Department of Accounting & Finance - Graduate Programs - Master of Accountancy . AACSB also.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine appears to be just over $17k.

Midland Lutheran's program is about $13,500, if you take all 10 grad courses. There appears to be some avenue for people to take corresponding undergraduate classes at a cheaper rate then getting credit by adding a 1 credit independent study. I'm too lazy to read the details and figure out the cost under these circumstances, but it appears to be one of the cheaper programs. I can't find anything < $10g.

Why does a person want an accounting masters? If you want to be an instructor it will get you the number of credits universities seem to require nowadays. On the other hand if you just want to take the CPA exam, then I'd just take a cheap undergrad certificate program such as LSU's.

    University of South Dakota: Master of Professional Accountancy (Graduate tuition non-resident: $366.70 /hr. x 30 = $11,001); SD resident: $173.25 /hr. x 30 = $5197.50).
Master of Professional Accountancy - USD

West Texas A&M: Master of Professional Accounting – Thesis or non-Thesis option (most but not all coursework offered online)
West Texas A&M University: Accounting Graduate Program

Some Australian University options— at one time a good U.S. dollar value; however, with the current weaker U.S. dollar … probably not so much anymore):

University of Southern Queensland: Master of Professional Accounting
Programs and Courses - Master of Professional Accounting (MP12)

Charles Sturt University: Master of Professional Accounting

That USD program is a good find Major56. It doesn't really pop out on thier DL online program page.

And the USD Beacom School of Business is also AACSB accredited; $11K for a 30 credit hour Master of Professional Accountancy program isn’t too shabby.

    CPA Eligibility

I am an ACCA affiliate with BSc (hons) in applied accounting from Oxford brookes university of UK.
As per my research, no state is considering ACCA so my BSc would fetch only 90 credit hours.
I want to do some affordable online course like MBA or MPA that could fill the gap of remaining hours.
Please advise the best possible option for my case.
I read above that WES was considering ACCA. Could someone advise which state/s is still considering ACCA for credit hours.

    Many thanks

Per the following you might check with CA and Alaska. Also search that site for ACCA for more information, I believe some states (I'm thinking CO) no longer accept this towards the educational requirement.

    Thanks for your response friartuck
I have been to this website.
I cannot go to CA as that needs SSN.
My conclusion was to apply for Montana which needs 150 hours. Please guide me to any accredited Online MBA or Masters in accounting appx USD10K that should fill in the Gap of required credit hours.
    Kind regards

I took a good, hard look at that program about a year ago and even contacted UWF's business department with a few questions. UWF does not offer the entire master's degree online. They only offer an online graduate certificate in accounting. Also, the school has a bizarre policy that will not let you take a graduate level class in a particular topic if you've already covered it at the undergraduate level. I've never seen another accounting program with a policy such as this. For example, if I take an auditing class at the undergrad level and then want to take auditing at the graduate level, UWF won't permit this. This severely limits the number of courses that are available at the graduate level for accounting students to take to graduate.

    Hi uddeen,

It seems that without social security number you're probably locked into Montana. Have you had your Oxford Brooks BSc evaluated by Montana's approved evaluator?

It seems to sit for the exam you'd have to make up about 30 credits. I'd be sure not to waste time however taking courses you've already had at OB. State boards don't allow doubling of credits.

If you need upper division credits to make the 24 Montana requires, my first choice would definitely be the University of North Alabama Professional Accounting Prep program. At $495 a course it is cheap, regionally accredited and requires no extra books or proctors. You might contact UNA, but I believe they have had an excellent rate of acceptance by state BOA's.

If you don't need extra accounting courses I'd look into signing up for say an Excelsior College credit bank, and then I'd work like crazy to knock out random CLEP and DSST exams in order to bank the extra 30 credits. That should cost I suppose $1000 or less depending on books required, etc.

I think the best advice is to contact the Montana board directly and get squared away on their specific requirements. Especially to see whether your 3 year bachelors degree is OK with them.

A masters degree could be expensive overkill for you but if you still need or want one, I think the American Public University MS in Accounting will be the cheapest option at 12 courses at around $1000 per.
