I am making a touch decision choosing between Bradford School of Management and University of Southampton School of Management for DBA . On the one hand, University of Southampton's overall ranking is much higher than University of Bradford in all acceptable rankings;moreover, University of Southampton is an accredited DTC (Doctoral Training Centre) by ESRC and the university has higher ranked in RAE (management studies) .While on the other hand, University of Bradford School of Management seems to stand higher in terms of quality of business school ( EQUIS ) and different business school rankings such as FT.
Which university is a better choice in your opinion?

    a) The one that will cost you the least.
    b) The one that will give you the best doctoral advisor.

    Thanks for the reply.

The University of Bradford does not give an advisor until the second year. But I already know my potential advisors from University of Southampton. So I cannot comment on that. University of Southampton's program is cheaper though.
How important are business school accreditations such as EQUIS. Bradford already has the accreditation and Southampton is working toward acquiring it.

Considering where you are living I'd say it's not all that important.

Beside Athabasca, no other university offers DBA in Canada. So I do not know how DBA is evaluated in Canada.

You could also go shopping around your research proposal and see if you find someone at one of the AACSB accredited Universities in the UK with interest in your subject. In my opinion is the DBA still very "obscure" but with a little bit of spinning it should be possible to make any practice oriented subject into a more PhD'y subject.

It depends, what is the goal of your DBA? I know two full time faculty members with Bradford degrees so it should work for tenure track positions in Canada.

If your goal is a tenure track, both should do the job.

I am mostly concerned about the reputation of the schools. University of Southampton is consistently ranked among the world's top 100 universities but I have a very little information about the school of management. Perhaps, Bradford school of management ( top 100 by FT, EQUIS accredited) is a better option but it is still very difficult to choose between the two.
