I am thinking which one is better Strathclyde MBA(distance learning) or Aspen DBA.
Strathclyde MBA is EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB accredited and they have already given me offer but Aspen DBA can give me a "Dr" designation.
The tuition fees of both are approx. the same.
Please help me to decide. Thanks

I personally keep bouncing between the Strathclyde MBA and the Oklahoma State dual MBA/MSTM. I believe that some UK schools have a good educational reputations and this one is no exception. My personal limitation is that Army Tuition assistance would only pay for US based degrees.
I'd go for the MBA first because of the accreditation, then think about a DBA (whether DETC or not might be moot in some years) later.

The Strathclyde (triple accredited) Flexible learning MBA hands-down over an Aspen DBA (DETC); not even remotely close in comparison!!!
Flexible Learning - University of Strathclyde

Also, have you considered the Warwick MBA by distance? Approximately a third higher in cost, however, a better recognized MBA than Strathclyde — though both are excellent UK MBAs. WBS is also triple accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA).

Or the Henley MBA via Flexible learning (triple accreditation): The Henley MBA by Flexible Learning -Flexible Learning MBA - Henley - Flexible Learning MBA Courses - University of Reading

Is there an Aspen DBA? It seems to have gone poof, by the look of the website.

I emailed them. They told me that they are planning on offering
a Doctorate in Business Administration in the Fall of this year, details to
be posted on our website (http://info.aspen.edu/ ) closer to the end of the
    summer or early Fall.

Kind of sad that someone is making a decision just based on the title "Dr". Besides the prestigious title of "Dr", the Aspen DBA has almost no use in my opinion as you cannot use it for teaching or for high level consulting. Most positions that might need a DBA will not really consider a DBA from Aspen as an advantage.

In summary, if you want a vanity degree go for Aspen. If you want something that can actually impress prospect employers and customers, go for Strathclyde.

If you want the title "Dr", you can legally call yourself Dr if you buy a diploma from many of the legal religious schools that do not need to be accredited to offer such titles.

OK. I will go for Strathclyde MBA. I heard from this forum that Aspen is NA and recognised by the government. Is it really the case that the DBA from Aspen I cannot use it for teaching?

I was thinking the exact same thing, not even close.

The problem is that many people from the general public equal a "doctorate" as being higher than a "Master". The strength of the online schools is that many offer "doctorates" and traditional schools normally offer only "Master's" so many go for the online schools only because they think prospect employers will look at a "Doctorate" degree as a more favorable degree than a "Masters".

I believe that degree levels can be indeed deceiving as there are many things to consider such as AACSB, EQUIS, etc accreditation.

As internet brings down the barriers of entry to offer accredited education, you will see that AACSB accreditation will become more relevant as it will act as a barrier of entry and will provide a real differentiator when it comes to graduate school.

I have not begun the program yet so I cannot speak to the quality or utility of the education, but Strathclyde have been great to work with so far.

Very true, but I would question whether one is dealing with the general public when they are utilizing either credential. If the purpose is to impress some girl in a bar, or make your mom proud that you became a "doctor", then the Aspen DBA would be a better choice.

I am assuming though, that this credential will be utilized in a work environment, be it employment, teaching, or doing consulting. In that case, the distinction between the the two degrees in terms of quality and reputation begin to stand out. Sure, if you are doing consulting for mom-and-pop small businesses, they may be more impressed by having the title "Dr", regardless of the school. However, beyond that level, the quality of the degree will be taken into account.

...assuming business administration is your area of specialism, and the degree is for use in advanced countries (the west). For someone that intends to use their earned degree in Africa (for example), where being called "Dr" is a big deal and highly prestigious, the DBA would be the preferred route for some with an already earned master degree.

    Are the two mutually exclusive?

In Canada is a big deal too as people think that someone with the title "Dr" is a medical Doctor that earns 250K plus a year. Once they figure that is a business doctorate, unless you work at a prestigious business school it means practically nothing but some might feel sorrow for you as you spent a great deal of money and time getting one for almost no reason.

No, but I suppose that the person asking has already a master in a non business subject so the choices are either an MBA from a good business school or a DBA from a low tier DETC accredited school that is willing to take a non business master for admission.

The DBAs are trying to position themselves as an executive program for prestigious positions in government and industry but I'm yet to see a government or executive job that calls for DBAs. It is a degree that has limited use in my opinion and should be pursued only if there is some value to ones career but not just for a "Dr" title.

No, but my budget is limited. I can only take one of them.

A low tier DETC school like Aspen? They had the first online MBA right?

Actually, I've just got a master in accountancy from a local university, my Bsc is in Math. I want to get a MBA from a better university or get a DBA. Is there any good and affordable (online/DL) DBA?
I would not consider a PhD as it is really really expensive to me.
