Laureate University - Back, and on fertility drugs

Long-time DegreeInfo members may remember Laureate and sister schools Crown Church C&U, British-American Business Institute, their phony accreditors including the United Nations Convivium for International Education, and the internationaldegrees.com web site. These entities popped into existence about three years ago, apparently the brainchild of one Paul Newham, enjoyed a run of about a year, and then disappeared.

Mr. Newham is a practitioner of something called Voice Movement Therapy, and this fake school empire apparently was created originally to credential program graduates. Although it was difficult at the time to establish the order of creation, the empire eventually included:

All of the sites went dead, and most were replaced by this text, "The Academy for Contemporary Research has determined to cease operation and we will not be accepting any more students. We will continue to provide the comprehensive data base of research links which we hope our graduates and others will find useful in furthering their learning." Their "graduates and others", including those in the process of graduating, were stranded, and messages to that effect can still be located on some bulletin boards.

Well, the empire has returned and, like the Belford University group in another thread and other, more recent mill empires, its ploy for credibility seems to hinge on its audacious size.

The new structure is termed the Federate University System, comprising 55 schools, with Federate University itself a member. Accreditation will be handled by The Higher Education Commission, verification by GraduateTranscripts.com, with the whole kit-and-kaboodle a part of Globe Campus. Globe Campus, for we uninitiated, is "the world's most extensive online educational community and resource".

Most of the web sites are incomplete as of now and all of the school sites that I checked appear identical.

Laureate University also claims 'accreditation' from IARC - the International Accreditation and Registration Council, based in Queensland, Australia. Concerns have been raised regarding this organisation, at both a state and federal level. Just for the record, this organisation has no recognition whatsoever in the world of Australian academia.
