For the proprietors of SRU? Business as usual.

I have the feeling that if Liberia fell into the ocean it would be business as usual at St Regis.

I agree with Roy and Dennis. It's unlikely that anything will change, except perhaps the required "accreditation" fees going into new pockets.

For fifty years at least, one of Liberia's largest sources of hard foreign currency has been selling "flag of convenience" registrations for merchant shipping. Today the country is in more desperate circumstances than it's ever been in, with incessant warfare and banditry having pretty much destroyed its plantations and mining industry.

Selling weird off-shore "university accreditation" is just expanding an old business into new markets. I expect to see them trying to profit from the perks of national soverignty in any way that they can.

They need money very badly and they are desperate. Nothing's likely to change very soon in Liberia.

Rumor has it that as inducement for Taylor to step down it was agreed that he could keep St Regis University and its scam accrediting business. The entire operation fit neatly in the breast pocket of the blue leisure suit he is fond of wearing. :D
