    Hi Ong,

Any Legitimate Universities in the US has to be Accredited by any One of the Six Regional Accrediting Agency ( NCA - RA, for example) or One of the many National Accrediting Agency (DETC - NA, for example) recognised by the US Education of Department, and CHEA.

I can't seems to find the URL for this University. If you can provide the link to this University. I will be able to provide you with more informations.

"Registered in the State of Hawaii, United States of America, as a private, degree-granting institution of post-secondary education, and recognized by the Legislature of the State of Hawaii, AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII [...] is presently a chartered member of the Accreditation Association of American College and Universities (AAACU), which IS NOT an accreditation association or agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education. It has also made the requisite applications toward the processes leading to recognitions endorsed by the US Department of Education."

Bears' Guide, 13th ed. (1999) says: "Accredited by the National Association of Private Nontraditional Schools and Colleges (legitimate but unrecognized). Degrees at all levels in a broad range of fields."

Don't assume too much from its being state-approved in Hawaii! Hawaii has among the laxest requirements in the US for state approval of a university -- although, thanks to Jeffrey Brunton, they have recently become quite diligent about enforcing what requirements they have. But there are some horrible universities that are operating quite legally there.

This is an unaccredited and very expensive university. I can't see the logic in choosing this school when there are so many accredited universities to pick from.

i agree that this school is not a good choice.

but i need to know whether this is a legitimate univ as they claim that they are authorise and recognised by the state government of hawaii i.e state approved.

if this is a mill , i would like to highlight this to the public

    Hi Ong,

The website of American University of Hawaii looks impressive compared to some of the well-known State Approval Universities in California. The programs offered by AUH is per program basic, and not by per credit. (Not a good sign!) For your information, If you are looking to be employed by the Civil Servant Sector using the State Approval Degree, it will not be recognised by the them, as anyone looking for any job in the Civil Servant Sector, using a US Degree, it has to be accredited by any One of the Regional Accrediting Agency(RA) in the US, recognised by the US Department of Education and CHEA, as being held equivalent to the degree you graduated in NUS, NTU, or SMU.
