We all know that St. Regis (or more accurately the NBOE) resells Liberian "accreditation" to all comers.

Well just today I noticed a whole managerie of new ones (they were all worked on today) with virtually identical webpage design:

    1. St. Lourdes University
    http://www.lelourdesu.com

    2. Hampton Bay University
    http://www.hamptonbayu.com

    3. InTech University
    http://www.intechedu.org

    4. North United University
    http://www.northunitedu.com

    5. Capital American University
    http://www.capitaledu.com

    6. West American University
    http://www.westamericanedu.com

And one with a different color scheme, but closely related text:

    7. Van Ives University
    http://www.vanives.com

There are probably more, these are just the ones I found without trying very hard.

Wow, St. Lourdes University offers a program in applied ethics!

And they all "NBOE will hand carry your documents to the Authentication Office of the United States Department of State for authentication of your university degrees and transcripts, which may be helpful for Immigration and Employment assistance. "

Bill...how did you come about these "wonderful" institutions of education (not!)?

These sites are pathetic. Is anyone going to believe these are REAL universities? The NBOE must be really "hard up" for cash if they had to resort to this type of marketing.

I read that Liberian Pres. Charles Taylor has resurrected his promise to leave office. He will do it after the "peace keepers" arrive.

Hopefully this will have an effect of the NBOE.

There has to be an American connection to all of this. Didn't you Americans have a police force called the FBI or was that like Hawaii FIVE-0, just on TV.

    I'm impressed by Alan Contreras.

While many admissions officers, credential evaluators and registrars are deep in their dogmatic slumbers, Mr. Contreras is wide awake to the dangers represented by uncritical acceptance of "flag of convenience" accreditation-havens. Not only is he awake, but he's actively trying to educate the educators by spreading awareness of it.

Here's two more things on this issue that Contreras wrote for the online newsletter published by Boston College's Center for International Higher Education:

    http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/soe/cihe/newsletter/News29/text005.htm

    http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/soe/cihe/newsletter/News24/text003.htm

But St. Regis is getting revenge on Boston College by ripping off their name.

    Here's Boston College of London:

    http://www.bcluk.co.uk

This is actually rather insidious, since many of the more prominent American universities operate European extensions.

Obviously studying at Boston College in London is not quite the same thing as studying at Stanford University in Florence.

Of course there is. You don't think that it's coming out of Liberia, do you?

Before it started emphasizing its Liberian "addresses", St. Regis used addresses on the Caribbean island of Dominica and in Washington DC. This new flock of Liberian accredited "universities" seems to have a Washington DC connection. That would be my guess about where the perps live. I'd speculate that it's a group of Americans along with somebody with a little clout inside the Liberian embassy.

The FBI is one of those things that other people encounter, but nobody seems to encounter themselves. It's a lot like space-aliens that way.

But if you want a real conspiracy theory, ask yourself where the FBI is headquartered.

Usually there is a name given at the Liberian embassy for questions about the "accreditation".

I imagine the FBI is a bit preoccupied right now. As bad a problem as degree mills are, they're a tiny blip on the radar screen compared to terrorists who want to destroy the country.

The listed non-schools, along with several others, were, and still may be, some of the names on diplomas for sale by advancedu.com, a site which has prominently featured SRU for some time now.

This situation is similar to Denver State University and cooldegrees.com, where you simply choose the school name you like best and supply your credit card number. Advancedu.com's latest offering is Robertstown University.

Hey, when I was checking into these" institutions" , They all stated they were purchased by an "accredited" university.

What does that mean? More trickery?

The American federal government should start an investigation right now - under anti-combines legislation. Someone is trying to corner the market on degree mills.

Is a well known school working in concert with the Monrovia Mutilater making so much money that they can take over an entire industry?

Are these going to be a bunch more blood degrees from the merchant of blood diamonds?

Hey, SRU and Co. could be a funding source for the terrorists! (Hey you never know!)
