Ok please don't attack me to hard.

I have been doing some research on all of this and I was and maybe still considering getting a degree with Lexington for a masters degree in psychology. Let me explain before you judge:

I current am a real minister, I have a degree in psychology and a doctorate degree in divinity. Both of which I actually earned. Currently, I do not have the funds or the time to attend Graduate school. I have been provided christian counseling for seven years now and I was considering a more serious move since I can only legally accept donations. Can anyone give me some help, insight or anything on this?

why waste your money with Lexington, just get you degree here .

Really, if you want some credibility and money is an issue, look at CCU or SCUPS of look for an RA school at http://www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/mainmenu.html

Don't waste your time with a degree mill it could just diminish the credible degrees you now have.

An earned doctorate degree in divinity (DD)? From where was the DD earned?

My reason for asking is that for the past several decades the DD, for the most part, has been an honorary degree.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly are your degrees and where are they from?

    Haha,

That bogusphd site is crazy! Hahaha...

But seriously, are there any REAL experience to degree programs?

And I guess you both are telling me that Lexington is a "mill" correct?

    Drew,

I'm not sure if you are addressing your question to lightingbird or me.

    Lightingbird,

You stated in the original post that you are a "REAL minister," with an "earned doctorate degree in divinity." May I ask where the DD was earned.

Oh, I see you were asking the OTHER bird. Sorry.

(Lightning bird = hammerkop? Why is it given this moniker?)

    Re: Re: Lexington University

I have to agree with you Russell as I found the guys statement strange as well. You do not earn a doctorate in divinity it is honorary (DD=donated dignity).

Also, he says he is considering a more serious move but cannot afford grad school??? How is LEX U a more serious move?? In order to counsel in what I assume Lightingbird means by a 'more serious move' you need a license. This means an accredited degree of some kind (mostly RA although apparently at least one state will consider NA). If LBird wants that he needs to take out a student loan and go to school.

Also, he says he does not have time to attend school. If that is a problem for you I hate to think of you counseling (I mean that in a nice way). It is like the woman posting here complaining that SCU's Masters had too many boring lectures and was time consuming..........that is academics. If he is going to do therapy he needs legit prep (a BA in Psych is not it).

Lightingbird, I humbly suggest you do what is God honoring and will not bring either you or your clerical profession into disrepute. Study to show yourself a workman approved.

    Now North,

I came here for some advise because this forum showed some knowledge on the matter. Coming across this "degree mill" is something that I have just recently ran accross. Thats why I did some reseach and came accross this forum.

There is no reason to act rude or unjust. Next time check your mouth and mind before you type to someone that is simply looking for help.

And don't question my creditionals. I am being very honest about all of this, thats why I posted for some opinions, information and advise.

The reason that your current credentials are relevant is to provide context. What an earned degree means to one person may actually be a degree mill to the better informed. I've seen it many times. Honesty and dishonesty are not the issue.

Where did you earn your degree in Psychology from and what level. Again, Russell has a legitimate question. Where did you 'earn' a doctorate in divinity from considering that is universally an honorary degree.

We can help you better if we have an idea of the nature of your credentials. This forum has helped many get on track for useful credentials.

You are anonymous it really is not going to hurt to give us this info and we can better advise you.

sorry russell, talking to the birdman

sorry brother, i was referring to the birdman.

I am just curious what his degrees are in. And mr. bird. don't think that anybody is questioning you about your degrees-well actually we are-but we are just looking for some background information. I am also trying to figure out what makes you a "real" minister compared to me. I do not yet have a degree but I think that I am a real minister (opposed to all the fake ministers on this board ;) -sorry had to make a funny)

    I love this board :)

Well I am not comparing myself to any of you. Just trying to get some information.

I've never heard of a minister searching out fake ministers and weighing himself against others.

    Odd.

But I'm not one to judge.

    LB,

Your initial post requested information regarding Lexington University. If you are seeking credibility as a counselor, licensure in the discipline of counseling and a grad program upon which to build doctoral work in counseling, then Lexington University is not your best option. If you have an affinity for the name "Lexington," perhaps Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY, is an option. I have a friend who earned a D.Min. in counseling (pastoral care/counseling) from LTS. www.lextheo.edu

May I ask again the source of your earned DD?

    RIGHT YOU ARE

Yep, you are right. We are "ministers" but only some of us are "real" :D So here the question to all you out there that say you are ministers - are you real?

Lightingbird - you find it strange that someone is asking and comparing to you about being a "real" minister?????????? I FIND it very strange that you would clarify yourself a "real" minister in the first place. Why the need to do that?
