It's obvious that this organization wants to expand to other countries. This would not be the first time that Pakistan has allowed an unaccredited school to operate unchecked. In fact, there are a number of "term paper" sites that have their headquarters in this country.

hahah that site has really made me laugh.

    By the way,roysavia,

These kinds of things does not only happen in Pakistan. these things also happen in USA and other parts of the world.

It only just depends on the mental fitness of the student himself. I mean if the student is not mad, then she will definitely check for the HEC recognition in any university.

Any degree that is not HEC recognized has no value at all in Pakistan and in the rest of world.

So find a uni that is Higher Education Commission recognized or else it is not a degree but a useless piece of paper.

    Hi George,

Al Qasim had been around for at least a few months, before (I think) the recent tendancy for Saint Regis affiliates to pop up in other countries. I had assumed it was cooked up along with the discussion board www.distancedegree.edu.pk that appeared to have a base in Pakistan.

It's amusing, this desire to pretend to have an offshore domain:the computer hosting the domain lives in Florida.

If you perform a search on this forum you will find at least two other schools that are unaccredited and operating in Pakistan. Also, you are correct to say that Pakistan is not the only country that has problems with unaccredited schools. However, in America, the government is now doing something about this. The Government of Pakistan has yet to introduce legislation that will prevent illegal or unaccredited schools from operating in their country.

The Wayback Machine shows http://www.aqu.edu.pk/index.htm going back to January 2002. Al Qasim University claims to have been founded in 1991. The statement "Al Qasim University is collaborated [sic] with American Coastline University and Saint Regis University. Al Qasim University is the exclusive representative of ACU to recruit students from South Asia Pacific Region , Middle East Countries and Africa Region. AQU also enjoys the exclusive rights to register students from Middle East Countries and Pakistan on behalf of Saint Regis University" (http://www.aqu.edu.pk/university_alliance.htm) goes back to Februrary 2003. The Wayback Machine doesn't know about http://www.distancedegree.edu.pk.

    good work john bear

    Good work John Bear! :)

    Roysavia,

I also share your point that governments shud do somethig about it.

Infact I want the UN to step up and start an international effort to kill such institutions that are not recognized and do not have enough standard in the whole world.

But at the moment, i wud clearly say that only complete "out-of-their-minds" get admission in unrecognized universities. Govt, of Pakistan has clearly said that the students must get admission in an HEC recognized university so that the degree can be acceptable.

HEC = Higher Education Commission Pakistan.

    Cheers,
    Kami.

    a definition, please

How does one define the location of an online school?

Its internet service provider is in the United States. The Al Qasim IP address of 66.96.82.254 lives here:

    OrgName: HIVELOCITY VENTURES CORP
    OrgID: HVC-3
    Address: 475 CENTRAL AVENUE
    City: ST PETERSBURG
    StateProv: FL
    PostalCode: 33701
    Country: US
    NetRange: 66.96.80.0 - 66.96.95.255

So even though it's a ".pk" domain, it's a US computer that serves it.

The address of the domain registrant is in Pakistan (but we know of other online businesses with domain registrations that are not accurate reflections of the location of their day-to-day operations).

The Al Qasim "contact us" page does not give a postal address, even though the admission information page includes the text
    Curious business, this.
