Yesterday (Sept 8, 2002) the LA Times Busines Section carried a front page article "Diploma Mills Use Reach of Internet".
Contains quote by John Bear. Also opinions of phony degree holders which range from "it's not been worth the paper it's printed on" to "I'm fully qualified".
    Available at www.latimes.com/
I suspect that some business executives, after reading this article, will review the credentials of employees.

The notion of these people (the degree mill customers) as victims--instead of co-conspirators--fades quickly once you listen to them. They knew. They all knew.

I could read stuff like this for hours.

It would be interesting to see what kind of reaction the writer would get if he took the same tack with graduates from an unaccredited school like Kennedy-Western or Century. Perhaps not as cut-and-dried as far as diploma mill status, but I bet the same shameful retractions of publicly claimed degrees would occur, especially those listed on the websites of legitimate academic institutions.

    No Shame

    Rich:

Where does the shame come in? I have a an RA AA, have earned an SL BS at Kennedy-Western, and I am in the process of working on a SM at PWU (CA Approved). Where does the shame come in. I have/and I am completing challageing coursework in each of the educational institutions I have chosen. All of my degrees are legal. The bottom line is wheter the degrees are accepted in business, just run a search on google and you will see how many top professors, and respected professionals have earned their degrees at Leagl Stae Approved or Liscenced Schools, like CCU, K-W, PWU, CPU and so on ....

    Have Fun, no shame here:p

Note that when RJT says SL BS at K-W. I believe it means State Licensed BS from K-W. State Licensed as in state of denial BS from K-W.

Why don't you tell us again the story about State Approval of KW? (Maybe true that there's no shame but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be any. :D )

    Have fun,
    Bill
