Good Morning. I don't work for this school and was trying to help a student when it came up in a search. Although not dl it would be a perfect fit for some. Price is incredible. Hille
Pretty much. It's FREE! 100% scholarships to all students. ACCSC accredited (NA). Choice of 8 trades. 3 -year program, grads leave with Associate Degree. This school was originally designed for the underprivileged and I'm not at all sure what requirements re: socioeconomic status there are, today. Campus life seems pretty strict - I'm just saying, not making judgment for or against. Participating in at least one extracurricular is mandatory. Some info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williamson_College_of_the_Trades College Website here: https://www.williamson.edu/ Definitely not a party school. Men only. Students are required to live on-campus throughout three years of study. Like a seminary with trades. J.
I love that school and mention it often on my FB page. The downside (for THIS audience) is that there aren't distance learning options. It's also no joke- hard to get into too.
Very difficult to teach and certify trades by distance. Especially welding, I imagine. Trade instruction HAS to be hands-on or it's pointless. I know of correspondence "schools" that will give people useless (i.e. not recognized) diplomas in trades for reading and multi-choice exams. They are basically certificate / diploma mills. Schools like Williamson are great to have. We need them! Also, some of our Community Colleges here do a really good job of trade instruction and I'm sure there are many more in the US that are excellent in this regard. J.
Hello all. I have given the information on this school to several people which had never heard of it. They were interested so I will see if I get any feedback. Hille
