    KA-BOOM!!! (sorta kinda)

A Hanford, California City Councilor is facing a recall challenge, with one of the stated reasons being he "knowingly and willfully misled voters" when he said he earned 2 college degrees, because they're "bogus".

The degrees are from.....drum roll please.....Columbia Pacific University.

Thank you for the "sorta kinda" Bruce. If this bloke earned his Columbia Pacific degrees during the 10+ years that CPU was a California-approved school, then he undeniably has a legal degree. If he misrepresented it as 'accredited' or if, as alleged, he raised $2,000 more for his campaign than he said he did, then he may well be in trouble.

I think it's a Ka-Boom, John and Bruce. This guy, who BTW also owns a newspaper, has had more press than Anthony Scaramucci! Part of it:

"The grand jury also said he “misled voters” to believe he had a valid bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Columbia Pacific University.
Ramirez said he received the degrees from the online and correspondence college in 1999 and 2000.
But the grand jury said the college was closed by the courts and degrees earned after 1997 are “not legally valid” in California, and recommended he no longer cite the degrees.
Ramirez said he will drop mention of them from his website and any future campaign materials."

Whole thing here: Hanford councilman blamed by grand jury for misleading voters | The Fresno Bee

I wish founder-owners of CPU Dr. Crews and Carr were around to ask about what happened during its final years. I used to ask regularly but never got answers. Crews died a few years ago, and Carr's email address was discontinued also a few years ago.

When I lived in California, a candidate for state office listed his University of Wexford degree in his campaign. A call to his competitor's campaign office and a recommendation that they do a search for Wexford on Degreeinfo gave them the ammunition that they needed.

The fakes are still rolling along. This guy probably doesn't even need the bogus Ph.D., he has 2 legitimate RA Master's degrees, but I guess the lure of the title was too much.

Maybe he did need it despite not needing it. For promotion or tenure or to keep his job.

Dodge any urine bombs today or did they not ask for help?

No, I had a lot of friends down there, but this is my last night of vacation. I planned that months ago, pure coincidence!
