Introducing Central Atlantic University - "We prepare you to wild world".

URL is cauni dot us: the FAQ is very similar to that of Concepts University College in London, an unrecognised UK school run by a Nigerian but CAU seems to be operating out of Egypt or the Emirates, or both.

Concepts was and probably still is an affiliate of West Coast University, Panama and California University FCE.

So are we just listing out every diploma mill on the Internet these days?

CAU has borrowed quite a lot from Concepts University College. Given the fact that you’ve expressed a few opinions on ASIC in the ASIC and Warnborough thread it might interest you to know that Concepts University College, while it was still known as Concepts College, was among the first UK colleges to be accredited by ASIC. Its official address was and still is 40 Thorne Rd, London (google that and see what you find) but the college has more campuses in Nigeria, all of them declared illegal by the National Universities Commission by the way.

Concepts is no longer accredited by ASIC: according to a poster to a thread on another forum Concepts lost its accreditation but I don’t think that makes much difference. Concepts had and has affiliation agreements with two ASIC accredited schools, Charisma University, Turks & Caicos and Saint Monica University, Cameroon and Honolulu.

One of the board members of AAHEA, the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation who is also on the University of America’s board of trustees is a graduate of Concepts University College which isn’t and has never been either a recognised or a listed body in the UK: rather, it was under the influence of the World Information Distributed University in Russia and California University FCE right from the start.

Personally I'd just as soon not give their names any boost in page ranking by repeating them. What I find interesting with this, and a few others, is that there seem to be more connections than with just random mills on the web.

All of those would be Axact grads had to go somewhere else, I guess.

Am I the only one thinking that there's nothing in the central Atlantic? How fitting.

I doubt it's a residential condo! In fact, the Bar Association of the District of Columbia is in the same building.

About Us - Bar Association of the District of Columbia

There's probably a "virtual office" or mail-forwarding organization in the building and the "universities" are likely clients.

Then how are we to identify such "schools," sort them out and piece together ownership and connections etc.? I can see not giving a direct url, but not mentioning them at all would defeat one of the functions DI does rather well at times.

Central Atlantic has borowed from the accreditation blurb of European Continental University - another Delaware-Incorporated school, although its address is: Thomas Chambers, Whetstone House No. 1-3, Oakleigh Road North Whetstone, London (UK) D

That's why I didn't name the other "universities" that are using the same DC address and phone.

Noting the names of doubtful universities here might raise their page ranking, but it also means that any questions and concerns that we have about the schools will appear in web searches. That might be quite helpful to prospective students (and their employers) from a consumer protection standpoint.

European Continental University? Here's its western hemisphere counterpart, which operates out of the same address and phone as CAU:

The English words used on the website are quite nearly in random order.

$10K for a doctorate. This is either incredibly cheap or incredibly expensive, depending on whether this is a legitimate and recognized university or an utterly fake diploma mill. I don't think the answer to that needs to be provided.

If you ever get an urge to read one non sequitur after another, this is the place.

Another school associated with people from the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation, I believe.

It is a bit of an editorial stance on our part and there is an historical component that influences that stance. DegreeInfo was born as the result of an effort to identify and undermine such entities. When the old unmoderated a.e.d. was overwhelmed with spammers trying to drown out the truth telling regarding degree mills DegreeInfo was created to keep up that fight along with the discussions of distance learning. As the laws have tightened and the degree mills have been squeezed out of existence in the USA and as online education has expanded there has been a decided shift in the focus of this board. We do, however. continue to feel there is a place for those activities in today's board and if there is some small google-exposure benefit from that I believe it is more that offset by the content of the discussion and the effect of warning people away from these entities.

Degree mills deserve publicity - as long as it's all bad.

    From the website:

Under the sponsorship of South Indian CTV Communication of Tamilnadu and in association with United Korea (UK) Commission of Consistent, the European Continental University (ECU) institution organized by Knowledge University of America (USA) Delaware awarded Doctorate in Consortium Entrepreneurial Administrators for Professional Development to Shivaram Bhandary.

Wow. Apparently, it was for his work on the performance of Brazilian solar panels in the Antarctic. (It feels like a bad game of Risk.)
